Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

They are both short.

*under 175cm

Olaf is the same height as Putin. Though he's also the new kid in town. And possibly at risk of saying that 'everything's fine because Vla- I mean Putin will guarantee very good fossil fuel deals for us, all Ukraine has to do is capitulate'.

I was just going to say "You twat", but you saved me the trouble. He's impugning the motives of posters in an identical way to how Putin impugnes the motives of Ukraine, the West, er, anyone who disagrees with him...

(RD2003 - don't bother looking up "impugning". You won't like it)
Yes, before every post I ever make I think 'What would Putin say here?'

Russia has traditionally seen France as a back door into Europe and the west thanks to De Gaulle.

It's another sign Putin hasn't moved in from his KGB days.

(Sounds convincing, I'm no fucking expert in this shit)

Most convincing explanation so far award.

And sorry for continuing the short thing.

Listening to the BBC Reith Lectures on AI this year the presenter said that the US military used an AI to plan its supply lines and logistics before its recent wars. Not saying that the task was beyond human planners but the implication was that the computers did a better job or quicker.

It certainly looks, at least in the north of Ukraine, like the Russians have miscalculated on their requirements for supplies to the front line. Or that static column is it, and it just isn't moving.

Both sides will use any ceasefire to resupply and manoeuvre - I reckon it favours the Ukrainians more though.

Reading through all the stuff about how badly Russia's military are performing the consensus seem to be head scratching at just how incompetent they are - seems they really did think it would be like Czechoslovakia 1968. That has presumably come from Putin - that and the corruption, poor communication and bad training has left a huge army struggling with supplies, morale and having to reboot its entire operation on the hoof.

We are maybe witnessing one of the greatest military disasters ever. Hopefully the army mutinies and turns on Putin. Several far grimmer scenarios are available though ...

(Advance apologies if these have been posted before)

From the excellent belllingcat and Global Investigative Journalism Network websites. Well worth a read:

Cheers. I'm gonna repost this in the thread I started for sources cos of ego... Well not really just it's easier to find for me and maybe others if needing to revisit.

Keep thinking that at some point they’ll kill the wrong people and some other country will have a pop back at them, then remember that the US bombed the Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia and somehow got away with it.

Don't think so, but I might have. I often say stuff on the spur of the moment. It's entertaining, especially some of the responses from those who think they're actually politicians.

And even if I did, why is a different viewpoint a problem for you?

But a gaggle of you are derailing again by trying to make it about me. Try not to.
This thread isn't about you entertaining yourself.

Tbf, the US used them to frazzle scumbags hiding in caves in Tora Bora. There is a bit of a moral gulf between this and firing them off in residential areas.
Only if you think Ukrainian lives matter more than Afghan lives.
