Im assuming the heavy hints of "worse to come" wrt to bombardments is a message to the Ukrainian government wrt negotiations. The grim question is how brutal is the russian regime prepared to be. If they have been and are going to use indiscriminate weapons like Thermobarics or worse as they move into more populated places then surely they will want to better control the growing protests as civilian casualties increase many in Russia have family in Ukraine


Putin doesnt seem to be winning any support and that can only get worse causing more panic as sanctions bite and he is increasingly shut off from the world , plus he seems the type of bloke thats always dreamed of military being in total control protecting his steroid bloated face on every billboard even after hes long gone or perhaps pre bloated naked on horseback besides an AK47 saving humanity instead , some memes may come true

The martial law is - presumably - becasue putin is worried about russian's taking to the streets in even bigger numbers and elements in the military and the regime using this to oust him. Its not a good thing in terms of ending the war - as it gives putin more room to escalate it.

TBF he isn’t cut off from the world; the rest of the autocrats are all on his side and are all still trading with him with no sanctions in place or even mooted (with the exception of Orban).
