Only countries voting with Russia on today's UN resolution:
Belarus
DPRK
Eritrea
Syrian Arab Republic
Presumably Brazil abstained. Bolsonaro refuses to condemn the invasion.

Mostly Greater PRC (in Africa).Yeah there are plenty of abstentions of course.
This is so extreme, idk if it means they must be seriously worried about public opinion ?

e2a: although apparently not Brazil, well well.

Down to economics, perhaps. A quick check suggests that US investment in Brazil is something like 50 times greater than Russian investment. The only BRICS country to break ranks, though.Yeah, considering he met Putin less than a week ago and promised to stay neutral while including the phrase "Brazilians are practically Russians" that is interesting.
Seeing as tweets are OK again (?)...this is a startling image of the destruction of Russian hardware in what looks like a fairly suburban setting...

heated steel oxidises very quickly. Are they all as rusty as that ? Looks like a scrap metal yard.
I wonder how the Russians will react to this approach.
That rusty look is what vehicles normally look like when you burn them. Are they all as rusty as that ? Looks like a scrap metal yard.

Convoy will have air cover and surface-to-air defence systems. Maybe better to let them come closer and have a go with hand-held anti-tank stuff, easier to hide, less of a target.there was a whole convoy of russian trucks being reported heading towards a city. clearly visible from satallites. why on earth did the ukrainians just not drone them to toast? seemed pretty obvious thing to do. maybe they were afraid of massive Russian retaliation?
The abstentions are interesting.

ETA pic might not be what it seems .
Yeah I didn’t know about burnt metal looking the same as rusty metal. The photo's from the Associated Press, which captioned it:

It’s really hard to imagine watching TV in Russia, being told that Ukrainians are currently busy bombing their own cities just to make us look bad, and believing it.
Will anyone actually believe that ?
I’m not sure. My dad told me lots of stories about how, as a kid in then-soviet Czechoslovakia, everyone knew the news and school curriculum and so on was all lies you were just very very careful to not say that you knew, or what you thought, to anyone, apart from quietly in a safe place. You don’t actually have to convince people just frighten them into silence.Yes of course, confirmation bias. People probably believe it here.
I don't really do Twitter threads, though from reading the Guardian piece TopCat linked to later, there certainly do seem to be various examples mentioned there.it was more the thread i was referring to. there are many more examples on it.
