Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

The article may not explicitly say it, but when it refers to

I can't help but think it's referring at least in part to Azov.
The militarisation of Ukraine has led to a rise in nationalism and radicalisation so there is something to be tapped into. However the far right would have to find an alliance or support , outside of the far right who else could constitute the nationalists referred to ?

I’d guarantee that any attempt coup or armed revolt would involve the far right however whether it would be led by them we can only speculate .

  • Thousands of people in Berlin demonstrated against Germany’s military support for Ukraine during a rally organised by a radical leftwing collective. Participants gathered in the German capital and brandished placards reading “Negotiations! No weapons!”, “No to war” and “Pacifism is not naive”. Some also held anti-American signs. One of their main demands was for Germany to stop sending weapons to Ukraine. Far-left populist leader Sahra Wagenknecht, who attended the Berlin protest, has long called for an end to weapon deliveries to Kyiv and opposes a plan to deploy US long-range missiles in Germany. Germany has been the second-largest contributor of military aid to Ukraine after the United States, but plans to halve its budget for that aid next year.

Interesting to see Sahra Wagenknecht described as "far left". Given she's anti-immigration, anti LGBT, pro-covid and is happy to arselick the Chinese CP. Very much cut from the same red/brown cloth as Galloway

They are described as far left ( not just in the Guardian but generally in the German media) because of their economic programme . Whilst they have recieved votes from former AfD they have mainly picked up votes from Die Linke and the SPD .

Cardboard drones destroying Russian jets (and, in turn, saving the lives of Ukranian civilians).

I notice that, on the map in this video, the territory of Ukraine is painted in the colours of the state flag, yellow and blue, whereas that of Russia is painted red rather than red, white, and blue, which are the colours of the state flag of the Russian Federation. The implication is that Russia is somehow connected to communism.

Trying to tap into long held opposition to communism in Ukraine and its supporters?

Russia is painted red white and blue, you can see this when it zooms out. The bottom bit of the flag is red and that's what you see when zoomed in to the Ukrainian border area.

Oh dear, oh dear.

Brown-Red, however the Guardian and the German media might define them: Strasserism Light.

Wagenknecht as I'm sure most people know is of Stalinist background having joined the East German SED in...1989, eight or so months before the wall came down, and then was a prominent PDS hardliner in the 90s and early 2000s.

Given the Russians' penchant for funding far right and red-brown parties across Europe in order to try and shape public opinion to their advantage, it is absolutely no surprise to see Wagenknecht and her crew calling for actions which would benefit the Russians militarily.

I’d have thought that the abject failure of successive governments to deliver an integrated , inclusive and economically equal German state after 35 years of unification provides a more fertile ground for the BSW than Russian gold tbh.

That fertile ground is an incentive for hostile outside powers to provide essential resources to those who wish to cultivate it.There's not much point in coutries having intelligence agencies if they don't use them to sway the political landscape in their neighbours and rivals in their favour.

Yes I agree hence my emphasis on the failure of the German state to address the issues of integration, cohesion and inequality that makes it vulnerable .
