Tottenham Hotspur 2020-21

Slowly beginning to see improvements. Energy, enthusiasm, pressing and shape all in evidence last night. Still lacking quality on the ball and the final ball in from wide wasn’t good but you can’t have everything, not in one go (or not ever if you are a Spurs fan!).

Kane is a worry

Brentford surprised me. Quite direct, their biggest ‘weapon’ seemed to be the long throw. Their fans were a credit to them though.

He did have one flash of class, a nice 180 turn at the nearpost, but he's lost his clinical final touch. Id stick him on the bench, maybe give him 20 minutes at the end. He's publicly said he's tired.
It was a hell of a ball, give him that.

The one on one chance would’ve been clinically slotted home at anytime during the last 6 seasons. Think you are right, he does need a rest. We’d have to play a ‘false 9’ in that circumstance, in the absence of another #9 at the club

quite in the running for 4th place by christmas looking at the fixtures...not really the goal scoring machine we should be though
#KaneOut4Xmas
Top 4 is a possibility by Sunday night. West Ham play Chelsea, Arsenal don't play until Monday (Everton away), and we have Norwich at home on Sunday afternoon. With our game in hand, long way to go but we're currently in the box seat for 4th despite having a knackered centre forward with a solitary league goal.

Same old problem, we need another centre forward so we can give Kane the occasional rest. The difference is that in the old 4-2-3-1 system with Eriksen and Dele vying for the no.10 role, a backup CF was only ever that - league cup and early FA cup games only, impossible to attract good, ambitious players under those circumstances. Playing with a fluid front 3 it's easier to see where games come from - pick any 2 from Kane, Son and the new guy, or possibly even all 3 with Kane playing deeper.

Am hearing awful things about some of our fans, giving Son in particular all sorts of racist abuse + even some N bombs dropped. This was being discussed on our GPG forum :( needless to say it was a small minority and everone else is appalled and embarrassed.

As for the game, we weren't terrible but have lost our Mojo, but youse weren't great but better in pretty much every way, best team won for sure.

Still, away to Tottenham in the Prem as opposed to a Gillingham or Lincoln and we weren't embarrassed.

I hate that slowed down version of "Oh when the Spurs..." tho'.

Arsenal should be playing the youths or forfeiting today. The rules are if you have 13 outfield players plus a goalkeeper fit and available, the game goes on - but it should be about injuries or covid cases only.

Having a squad smaller than the allowed 25 is a choice. Having 5 players unavailable because of AFCON commitments is both entirely predictable, and a choice. Having Xhaka suspended due to near terminal stupidity is entirely predictable. They don't have anywhere near 10 players unavailable due to injury or covid.

Bunch of Henry Norris cheating cunts.

Those last few moments were astonishing - the kind of thing i'm more used to expecting against us, not for.

Ahead of Arsenal with a game in hand, ahead of Man Utd with 2 games in hand. 1 point behind West Ham with 3(!) games in hand, and whisper it quietly but 8 points behind Chelsea with 4(!!) games in hand.

Most importantly, playing Chelsea at the weekend and those players (Bergwijn especially) must be absolutely buzzing.

What's the fucking point of VAR? Spurs score, ref blows for a foul, TV pictures demonstrably show there's nothing wrong with it whatsoever. 0-0, on we go.

How refreshing that someone in football speaks truth to power (or to the egos running our clubs). Spurs recruitment over the past 5 years has been shocking. Penny pinching and haggling over players we should go all in for, then panicking and splurging millions on those we should avoid at all costs.

N’Dombele in particular is a shameful exercise in poor scouting and even due diligence. He came looking unfit and disinterested. He left in exactly the same way. In between 4 managers tried to get him fit, motivated and enthused. All can’t have been doing it wrong. It’s as if Levy & co watched a load of YouTube highlights videos and bought him off the back of that!
