Tottenham Hotspur 2020-21

Oh and a word on Villa:

Shocked that they were so ‘set piece’. I’d heard about their recruitment of a dead ball specialist but it seems to have come at the expense of fluidity…

Can’t see how Tyrone Mings gets a game for Villa, let alone England!? He was captain today too. Thrashes about like an accident waiting to happen

Nothing clever to say other than TGI Son 🙏
Said it preseason but Son leaving wouldve been a bigger blow than Kane going. Particularly clear at the moment

5th, above Man Utd, Leicester, Arsenal and still touching distance of those above us. Not bad, plenty to work with.

Reguilon, Skipp and Ndombele were excellent today. And above all, great to hear that the Newcastle fan at the centre of the medical emergency seems to be pulling through.

off the boil years ago should long have gone
the sex tapes and now this etc stuff doesn't get him any respect from me but i presume this is most footballers so cant judge it too much
Thing is they are PR trained now. There have been some unpleasantness incidents of course but Dele has a lot due to his shit mates and feckless behaviour.

Spurs didn't attempt a single shot in the second half of the match against West Ham United.

Tottenham lost all 4 London derbies so far this season, scored 1 goal, conceded 10.

All eggs in a Conte shaped basket by all accounts. They must know something I don't, 'cos I'm not entirely sure why a manager of his repute would be swayed by us at the minute.

Aye, four months and 17 games in, and only eighth in the table, you have to assume the board know they have Conte pretty much lined up and nailed on.

Shitty way to treat Nuno (and his staff), though.

Interesting that after the Man Utd defeat ( which on paper and at home Spurs should have really got something out of given it was Man Utd) that the media started to describe him as Spurs 6th or 7th choice manager. Still think he's a good coach tbh , he inherited a squad that Mourinho had pretty much burnt out and demoralised and there was obviously some friction between him and the players. Might be down to too much of the same detailed coaching, work rate, and man management style that Mourinho has. Who knows. Couldn't fault his tenure at either Porto or Wolves so perhaps wrong man in the wrong place at the wrong time.?

Can't see Levy and Conte getting on tbh Levy's financial prudence and Contes open the chequebook styles whilst manageable arent the best recipe for a long and prosperous relationship. Conte is also rumoured to have said he would prefer not to take clubs over mid season, normally likes the cheque book deals done before he arrives and likes time with the squad pre season to develop his tactics. He has a no nonsense coaching and man management style so expect more pain for the players .

who would Spurs supporters want in? I know there'll be some who say anyone who plays attractive football , but who? Best promising and entertaining coaches I've seen in the EPL this season are Potter and Frank . Moyes is underrated but settled at West Ham who are rumoured to be subject to a take over. There are some out of work coaches Fonseca , Favre , Pirlo etc. Spurs must have a reserve list in order to have come to such a quick decision. One outside candidate who could be worth a look at is Sergio Conceicao at Porto.

tbh it doesn't matter who comes in, they'll be out again in a year or eighteen months - two years tops - 30 managers in 60 years doesn't suggest any real chance of longevity in post

£11m soothes a lot of ruffled feathers
Meh, mebbe, I don't know Nuno, I'm just not a huge fan of dismissing or minimising the impact of these kind of things by making reference to money, while at the same time most of us (as fans in general) would believe, and often preach, that football should be about more than just money.

Edit: which I'm not saying either of you have explicitly done here, it's just one of my buttons.

i daresay this £11m is better off with nuno than in the coffers of thfc

Pretty much everywhere is reporting it as "advanced talks" with Conte, so it must be likely. There had better be a plan B in place after the farce in the summer though - part of Nuno's problem was that everyone knew he wasn't the first choice, which left a feeling of "meh" all around the club. Not great for building up a rapport with the fans when no-one was even slightly excited.

Graham Potter would be a good choice, but after the start Brighton have made he has to be thinking about at least seeing this season out.

Brendan Rodgers would also be a good fit, but doubts (as in the summer) over whether he'd leave Leicester for us. Maybe, maybe not.

Pirlo would be awesome from a glamour point of view, but not convinced he's the right fit for us.

If it is to be Conte, his style is at least distinctive and fits the players at his disposal. 3 at the back, attacking wing backs, 1 sitting and 1 more progressive midfielder, 2 mobile forwards and a proper centre forward. We might get our Harry Kane back.
