FA Cup 2020/21

The Blades made a decent fist of it in the second half, and McGoldrick's miss is up there in the annals of history.

I'm going to watch the evening game on catch-up, because 5pm is a fucking stupid time for a kick-off.
Yes second half they resembled the team they were last season . We, Chelsea , were fortunate to keep a clean sheet . Zyech’s goal at the end though was worth waiting for .

Am I right in thinking he's very left-footed? I'm sure all the goals I've seen are him cutting in from the right.

The semis draw isn't that bad, and whilst I don't make them favourites, I think Chelsea could cause City problems, as they're very well organised in defence. I reckon Leicester would cause similar issues.

I didn't realise until his post-game interview that Kelechi Iheanacho isn't English. I had been thinking he was making a case to rival Ings and DCL to be Kane's back-up.

Yup you are correct, normally plays on the right but can play on the centre or left. Iheanacho was at City when he was young and looked very promising, he's had a few years under the radar but looks very good at the mo.

It's the final this Saturday, which you could argue deserves its own thread. I'm looking forward to this one more than recent ones, as it's genuinely hard to call. Chelsea will be favourites, but Leicester can beat anyone on their day, are higher in the league (having played a game more) and have Iheanacho in red hot form.

Two gripes. Firstly why is it not on at 3pm? And secondly, why haven't they waited until the end of the regular league season? It'll be the 150th anniversary next year, so you'd like to think tradition counts for something.

It's done some weird things this season, at the basement level Harrogate Town played in the delayed FA Trophy final for last season just despite now being a league club.

1) TV audiences here and worldwide;
2) The FA deem the Premier League more important; also, probably can blame it on Covid delaying the season's start plus Euro 2020 meaning that they can't delay the cup final until after the league has finished

uhh, the FA, quite famously, don’t run the Premier League.
The FA don't run it but are a shareholder, have special rights over what it does and I would expect have quite a lot of input into the overall English football calendar.

There was a global pandemic which delayed the start of the season and also moved the European Championships to this summer from last summer.

Used to be day didn’t it . Road to Wembley , few comedians / show biz people interviewed . My mum and Dad always put on a buffet etc. Now just a bit of optional tea time entertainment.
Anyway busy weekend for Chelsea got the Fa Cup and the Women's CL final . Favourites for the first, underdogs for the second.
For the women it could be an unlikely quadruple. For the men , whilst both coaches deserve a trophy and have performed minor miracles but we could be on the cusp of a 4th place finish , an FA Cup and a CL.

I'm fairly neutral on who to back. Chelsea get some kudos for saving us from the bland eulogies to City and Guardiola, as Leicester for mixing it with those spending a lot more than them.

If the latter plays comparing Mount and Maddison could be interesting, from an England perspective.

Different positions and roles although tbf Mount plays in a variety of roles and positions

My sister-in-law is at Wembley today supporting Leicester so I think we'll probably support Leicester too.

My brother, however, who drive her down from Yorkshire does not have a ticket so will be sitting in his car somewhere watching it on his phone unless he's managed to find a pub with an outdoor screen. He's probably more excited by Leeds' win this morning tbf.

Am hoping Leicester score first. Want them to win but think it will be a better game at least if they score first.
