FA Cup 21/22

Not at all, the only good thing about Boreham Wood was they were even more hated than us when we were in the NL and Dale Vince was chucking money around like water (before everyone was doing it like now).

You're FGR innit? I didn't think you lot were hated really. Boreham Wood? Ehhhh....dreadful club, dreadful place, dreadful supporters, they're a festering pustule on football. I hope that whoever they get next round humiliates them so much they fold in shame.

Not a lot of love for us in the latter years when DV was really splashing the cash but we had at least been knocking around the NL for ages already by that point, albeit saved by the AGM Cup a couple of times. Boreham Wood seemed to have no redeeming features and loads of petty shit like charging journos entry to the ground that didn't help.

I was about to post how good it is to hear decent commenters again, but fuck me if the farmers haven't scored with the first move of the game 😰

Why are the 5th round games on a Wednesday evening? They should be on a weekend, like they used to be. Fuck the Premier League and it's dominance.

The final was always in a Saturday, covered free by the two main channels. Draws always used to go to replays......

And it was always at 3pm, after the league season had finished. I think 5pm tends be the time now, which is shit from I-want-to-eat-my-dinner kind of way.

Fifth round TV games are up, and we have:
  • Posh - Man City
  • Palace - Stoke
  • Boro - Spurs
  • Luton - Chelsea
  • Saints - West Ham
  • Liverpool - Norwich
  • Everton - Boreham Wood
  • Forest - Huddersfield

That tv choice is a symphony in underwhelment and a precis of what's wrong with football.

People moaning about the pernicious influence of SKY and the Premier League....30 years too late. English football sold its soul in 1992, its all a bit fait accompli now innit.
But the 5th round being midweek is a very recent phenomenon. It used to have a weekend set aside for it.

My team rarely make the first round so the fifth is a land of mystery to me. I would say though that days and times have been changed at broadcaster behest since the PL inception. This fifth round midweek is new and possibly a result of trying to catch up fixture backlogs but it's just another form of the game being taken away from its roots and that's been happening for 30 years.

It's great that palace will be free and live. It's not good that I'm working. I'll endeavour to watch the second half at lunch.
