North Shropshire by-election

Richard Tice, the delusional fool, interviewed on BBC News, claiming it's a four-way marginal with Con, Lab, LD, and Reform UK all in the running. :D :D :D

Plus their candidate has tested positive for covid, which is ironic considering Tice's views on covid.

We can all snigger at Tice too.

5th place, 1,427 votes, 3.7% share. :D

Fantastic to see Martin Daubney and Reclaim doing so well.:thumbs::thumbs:

John Curtice has argued that 20% of the leave support, across the UK, that backed Johnston in 2019 has now had enough. That’s his red wall beginning to crumble. This does suggest that Brexit is weakening as a political alignment issue and if it has that Johnston’s one trick no longer has weight or votes:

So, Paterson could have taken the 30 day suspension, had a bit of bad press , unlikely he'd have been recalled, he would probably have retained his seat in the General Election , then retired to the Lords. Instead, Johnson opted for the #shitshow option 🤣

A reminder to Labour that by trying to appeal to everybody you appeal to nobody. But I think this lot are incapable of learning the lesson. A bunch of careerists led by a careerist cop but they aren't even any good at their chosen career.

Yeah but it's just the anti-tory vote it seems. No-one cares what the lib dems stand for (not even the lib dems as far as I can see). You can win a few seats on that but you can't win an election.
It was only ever going to be that kind of a candidate that took this off them though - do you imagine the christian socialist former Labour candidate would have shifted this many voters out of the tory column into his?

It’s also (as always) about who can be motivated to turn out and vote, given more than half of the constituency didn’t. Always easier to motivate people against something, while those in favour might not be arsed enough to bother (cf Brexit vote)
