Ministers target July 4th for reopening of England’s pubs and restaurants

But who's gonna sit in the yard if it's pissing down like it has been last couple of days. If you stick a orning up, temp roof thing, people won't be able to smoke in the not so out doors bit.
Never underestimate the plucky determination/tragic alcoholism of us Brits:

Much as I fucking hate Wetherspoons both for their owner and the fact that they are a soulless fun sponge, I do really enjoy ordering a tray of shots from an app and not having to queue.
Yes, love the Wetherspoons app - especially useful when at the pub with badly behaved kids you can't trust to sit nicely at the table while you queue at the bar :D

I’ve just been on a regular music quiz and the guy does lots of smart quizzes round the area.
He’s been told that a pub in town that does loads of club nights, live bands and quizzes have no entertainment budget for the rest of the financial year. Zero. They can’t even put on the regular quiz. This place is massively popular and always busy so it’s not looking good for other venues either. The one thing it’s got in its favour is it’s a big venue with a big garden so they will be able to distance more than most.
I know I joked about spoons earlier but it really is just going to be them left isn’t it. 😞

I think some of the smaller breweries are doing well out of this - all my local breweries have reduced to online delivery and click and collect, but they sell out within a couple of days when a new batch becomes available.

I love the fact the thread title has just been changed :D
Although it originally was always fourth of July that was spoken of if I recall, regarding earliest pubs will open. Still think it is a bit early myself.

Admittedly somewhat unsophisticated I just drink the regular shit off pumps. i’m not paying pub prices to have booze at home. got roast dinners from my local delivered though.

It really does vary, this.
Obviously I don't know any brewery trade info around your way, but one or two small breweries I know about round here have done well (or at least OK) from deliveries/people collecting beer. On reduced overall volumes though!
Whereas others (who've relied more on pub trade) have been on very fine margins compared to normal.

For now, in Wales, pubs won't be opening as early as 4th July (from what I've seen so far anyway) .....

In normal times I wouldn't either, in fact I'm no great fan of drinking at home ....
But with no pubs, I've had to adapt :D ...
And very nice beer (bottles, or minikegs of 9 pints) can be delivered at some very fair prices if you search around ..... :)

before lock down, I would be in the pub most nights sitting on my own , not wanting to go home (for reasons..), now im out of the habit,Ive done up my room to a state where by I like being in it I dont really want to go back at all ( apart from a long overdue meeting with friends). Just hope it stays that way..

Bloody real ale bores are getting worse than the christmas drinkers for holding everything up! 'What's that you've got there? Interesting, can I try a bit? Mild notes of mud you say? Interesting but not for me. Can I try the milk stout? Hmmmm.... not sure about that, CAMRA gave it a poor score you know. Brewed in Belgium by recovering porn addicts. No, not for me, maybe we should stick with the IPA etc etc etc.

FFS just get a beer and shift out the way!

First against the wall. :p I can't stand blokes who stand at the bar (say that in a broad Yorkshire accent), 'suppin'' their pint and giving the rest of us dirty looks when we have to nudge past them to get a drink!

I prefer the prime bar terrotary of the bit just round the corner if possible. Affording good over view of proceedings and ready access to bar staff's attention. Where I can exchange witty repartee, philosophise on the issues of the day and eat peanuts.

Distancing down to 1 meter. I don't get much closer than a meter to anyone besides Mrs S anyway, except on the tube and I won't be using that anytime soon regardless of the rules.

Pubs and restaurants with table service to open

Hairdressers and hotels opening. It sems almost everything except indoor gyms and swimming pools are coming back. This is a proper lifting of the lockdown.

I think I'm going to see how the pans out lot the next few weeks. I did a lot of drinking (all my drinking in fact) in pubs before lockdown but I'm well out of the swing of things and I'm OK with giving it a few more weeks.

I've had a few work meetings recently on building sites. Any sort of level of distancing is just impossible and I'm thinking pubs may end up the same, restaurants less so. Also some the rules being adopted sound like a real ballache. I know why they will exist but a few pints down the pub has always been a spontaneous thing for me and I'm fond of a crawl. Booking time slots and table service doesn't sound like much fun to me. Ordering through an app is fine but having to flag people down just for a pint or even worse just to pay at the end. Not for me. Each to their own etc.
