Ministers target July 4th for reopening of England’s pubs and restaurants

Some Afro hairstyles take a long time to do, and hairdressers can be quite sociable places, compared to the curt barbershops that just do short back and sides and you’re in an out in 15 minutes with barely a word exchanged
Yes, that's what I meant. There's a whole culture of hanging out and socialising in barbers' shop and hairdressers. A culture I clearly am not familiar with.

One positive of the rona is barbers are encouraged not to chat, in and out in 15 minutes with barely a word exchanged is my idea of heaven.

Just generally, and long prior to Covid-times, I was becoming amazed at the number of new hairdressers/barbers opening here, over the last two or three years!

There must have been a huge suppressed demand, because both the old and new shops always seemed to be full, right into the evening, on Sundays, etc.

So I can well understand if plenty open at midnight (or very early at least), especially right now!

There are, or were, thousands of hairdressers/salons about. It seemed to be one of the big self started businesses.

I live in a fairly quiet place and the high street consisted of basically 4 salons and a barbers at one point (3 salons and a barber at the time of Covid)

I live off a street that's near enough wall to wall bars and restaurants, and except for a couple which look not to have survived the lockdown, I think they're all opening tomorrow. It'll probably be mayhem down there by mid-afternoon. Think I'll pass on that, thanks, and have a drink with some friends in the garden at home.

Yeah, I thought I'd mis-heard that. Open at 6pm I thought they meant, but no 6am! Guess what Espresso just said makes sense. WTF though, hairdreseers opening at midnight? People really will go and get a haircut at midnight?! Humans really baffle me sometimes.

I saw a post on Facebook from a hair dresser saying they were booked up until the 12th of July. It's all done by appointments so I can see why someone would go at midnight if otherwise having to wait another 3 weeks.

During all this, I've found I can use clippers just fine and don't have much hair to fuss about anyway. Sorry Vinnie, I prob won't be back for a while...

Much earlier post from me -- relevant to thread, btw :

I yearn for a world in which Willy Walls learns to make a post without using underlining, bold, italics or smileys. I’m sure it’s possible

Let's make a really friendly deal shall we?

You stop disrupting threads needling me with 100% irrelevant digs (and stupid nicknames), and I won't order you what to do either.

Give that a go maybe?

You don't have to like either me or my posts, but you have a record of derailing threads by doing this.

Virtually all other Urbans** manage not to.

**Apologies to all them for my own detail here, but FFS!

(Hope you enjoyed the successful provocation anyway though, Mr Immature! )

That doesn't make you look good, does it? :hmm:
