Glastonbury 2011

Geezus.. you're fucked if you don't get there on wednesday really... taken today:

This is one of the many "Glasto" myths.

I showed up 2pm Friday afternoon last time, and got a pitch within 5 minutes of walking in.. okay I may not have got to hang out with the hardore hippie element in the Greenfields.. but as we all know that's aload of bollocks aswell.

It's no myth. For the last 3 years I rocked up on Friday and struggled to find space for a couple of tents. These days,Treebeak goes as advance party on Wednesday with 5 or so tents.

Nice that so many are enjoying the mud and rain.

Really nice. Next time one of you goes on holiday, I'll pray for typhoid outbreaks or hurricanes.

I don't think glasto mud is quite the same as typhoid outbreaks or hurricanes. Yeah it can be a pain in the arse but it doesn't necessarily ruin the whole festival (2007 was one of my better ones in fact).

But yes I am glad there is mud in a way, because if it had been dry ground and wall to wall sunshine like last year I may seriously have regretted not trying for a ticket. At the same time I hope my dad and my sis and her bf are having a good time regardless.

That was tongue in cheek but my point remains. It's really shit to delight in people possibly having a crap holiday, especially as some of them are their friends.

Actually, today has been beautiful and I'm a tad burnt.

That's where the posh folks 'slum' it:

It amazes me that despite sooo many Urbs now chucking their all in to the festival, working or paying, Editor delights in us having the horrible time he'd like us to have (but we're not having).

Shit on your doorstep?

In mainstream media, it's only the Daily Mail that shares his horror.

And all the while we have to use piss filled bogs at the Albert. That's squalor. In the city, walking in pools of piss.

Mud what mud?

Okay there is some but its acted as a talking / bonding point between randoms so im kind of thankful for it.

Mud = new friends.

I've been making lots of friends.

Glasto is

Haven't spotted any Urbs yet though. Missed the cider bus meets for various timing reasons.

That's not true at all, you know. But as my last three Glastonburys have been packed full o'mud, I'm quite happy to be missing this one (while remaining annoyed that I missed the sunny one!).

I hope you all have a great time, as I'm sure you will.

Morning Glastonbury people. Just wanted to let you know that Primal Scream were absolutely fantastic at the Eden Project last night so I would highly recommend you get to see them tonight if you get the chance. They played all of Screamadelica and a few greatest hits and are on top form. An epic ten minute 'Higher than The Sun' was one of many highlights. Really worth getting along to see em. :)

Is true! Saw them in Cardiff on Monday. Great show. Country Girl, Jailbird and Rocks in the encore.

Have fun Glasto goers. After this afternoon/evening's rain it should be dry until Monday :)

Looking in the wrong place then. Or your tents too big. No problem at all for me.

Im having to settle for watching it on TV. Only just over an hour into coverage and so far Id say B B King has owned everyone else (he is current on BBC Four). Also the BBC Three set is disgusting and hurts my eyes.

Biffy Clyro are on any BBC festival coverage...who exactly are they fucking?

Little Dragon on the red button are like nails on a chalkboard.

I still don't understand why it's become so essential for the BBC to cover the Glastonbury in such vast detail across multiple media formats.

Yet they only manage to capture the dullest parts of the fest it seems. I never realised how shit glasto looks from the tv.
