Food Shortages

Not a happy atmosphere in tescos today. It’s hard not to get pissed off when it’s like this repeatedly, not always but on a recurring basis. No normal milk, no baked beans :(. The power failure did add extra apocalypse vibes, half the lights being off, every little helps.

If there was a power failure, then the chilled cabinets have to be emptied... its probably sitting out the back waiting to be thrown away

Lidl has been generally good, but this morning something seemed a little off. I don't know if it's just a late delivery or other problems, but it felt different.
First thing in the morning, but low supply of eggs. Many general veg missing like onions, no chocolate covered rice crackers. . . it also opened 5 minutes late and seemed to have a staff of only two people.

Anyone panic buying food because people are panic buying petrol leading to the supply chain deteriorating and further panic buying yet?
I'm considering panic buying petrol as I haven't got any. I don't actually need any, just don't want to feel left out. :hmm:

There have been big supply chain problems in the bike industry for months. It's not just HGV drivers or Brexit causing it but they're certainly adding to it. For example, I saw one of our supplier reps last week and he said that the line of budget saddles that we get from them was about to run out for the foreseeable future because the factory in Vietnam that makes them has had to shut down operations because of local Covid restrictions. When I go to order stuff it's a constant game of finding something in stock. Lots of things that we rely on as a repair business (the metalwork mostly - chains, cassettes, derailleurs, brakes etc) are showing as out of stock for months. Some things have an ETA date on supplier websites of mid to late 2022.

There's been a shortage of small engine parts for lawn mowers and such in the US. I took a lawn mower to be repaired on June 6 and I'm told that they're still waiting on a part to come in to fix it.
