Trump's going to be impeached Wednesday night or possibly Thursday morning, followed by a January trial in the Senate, which will acquit him - the only part where there seems to be any uncertainty is what he'll say on Twitter - my guess is "TREASON!" or "WITCH HUNT!"

Can someone explain to me how this is not a violation of the Emuluments Clause?

Some law people seem to straight up argue that that clause doesn't apply to the president, which seems stupid to me, but I don't know anything about law. The real reason is probably that nobody in congress wants to set a precedent of actually enforcing this clause because that would open up potential for people from their party being taken down by it. The Clinton Foundation comes immediately to mind but I'm sure there's plenty of others. Much safer to impeach over the Ukraine stuff. That's just a theory I came up with while wondering why the hell he wasn't impeached earlier over his obvious acceptance of foreign cash via his companies.
