Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

I'm not sure how that would work and how it would be implemented
they may want to. they may even try to.

articles 5 & 6 of the un charter:

Article 5

A Member of the United Nations against which preventive or enforcement action has been taken by the Security Council may be suspended from the exercise of the rights and privileges of membership by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council. The exercise of these rights and privileges may be restored by the Security Council.

Article 6

A Member of the United Nations which has persistently violated the Principles contained in the present Charter may be expelled from the Organization by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council.

but if china doesn't veto something like that then russia certainly will, so it's basically a dead letter

Thank you never knew that

I'd probably need a short sit down if Putin ever appeared there...

However, it's a bit more pressure, 'friends' and neutrals being a bit warier, fewer places he can go. If you're signed up to the ICC, and Putin turns up for a diplomatic visit, you're bound by the treaty that underpins the ICC to arrest him. Neither host not visitor will want that, so he doesn't go places - ever.

His usefulness to other power structures in Russia - and acceptableness(?) to other friendly/helpful states - has been reduced, not by a half, or a third, or a quarter, bit a bit, and it's not about silver bullets, it's about salami slicing, and eventually there'll be a tipping point.

And on the same day that Erdogan announced that Turkey will ratify Finland's accession to the North Atlantic Treaty - What a fucking day, as Putin will have said as he climbed into his gold silk sheets...
