UK man sentenced for having manga images of children

We have been round in circles so many times it's not even true.
Child porn = rape.

Viewing images that depict child rape/seeking to legitimise those as a valid form of artistic freedom = rape apologist.

IMHO of course.
I guess it is fair enough to feel that way. But we don't live in a perfect world and we need a "least worst" solution to things like this. I don't see that prosecuting and locking up some sad case who wants to look at dodgy manga is necessarily the best way to deal with it. I don't know if that makes me a rape apologist, I'm not saying, oh it's fine and not disturbing.

No he wouldn't - he would just have to try and justify raping someone. wtf is wrong wih you?

So how would that make me a rape apologist? I haven't tried to justify raping anyone?

its just fucking insult throwing, like accusing me of having child abuse images....

But you're perfectly to accept that you can go buy a film, right now, legally on amazon that depicts child rape? You're cool with that? ...

I think this is the second time you've mentioned this.

What film are you talking about?

Seriously you told me that it was avictimless crime and to let it go?!? its there in black and white.

And for the record I think aussie guy should be prosecuted. I didn't think manga guy should have been imprisoned.... and I've just been informed he hasn't when I thought he had.
I've explained - others have explained. This is getting embarrassing.

By definition i was being a rape apologist, the bloke would have had to have raped somone. So maybe you'd like to have a consider of how you've blurred the lines just to apply an offensive term to someone.

Looking at images is not raping someone, I'm not going to go home and rape my tv
You've stated categorically that he shouldn't have been prosecuted, because the child-rape images in his possession weren't real photographs.
Answer me this... if they had been real photographs, and someone said he shouldn't be prosecuted, because it wasn't him doing the raping, how would you view that person?

The internet normalises things for people I think.

I'm not so sure about that. What I think the internet does is allow people to express those sides of themselves that, for various reasons, they dare not express in the offline world. Having said that, there are shades of difference depending on what kind of "sides" we are talking about exactly. It's easy for a Tea Party Republican to think of themselves as representing the average American because they have Fox News and various shouty heads on cable television to speak for them. But who's outspokenly representing Otherkin or (Heavens forfend) child molesters among the loudest "voices" of society?

You might say the Catholic Church, but their response to abuse by priests includes covering things up and shuffling the offenders around, which again implies that they're interested in protecting their reputation from the consequences rather than going to bat for child molestation in general.

My darling he and others have repeatedly explained this to you.........seriously i think you need to step away from this thread now
I'm sorry, but I am not prepared to sit by whilst people describe me as a pedophile and rape apologist

A serbian film.

Funnily enough no-ones agreed with me its inapropriate...I haven't called you all rape apologists for it

Well, you've only just said what film you're talking about, so before you did, no one could say if it was inappropriate or not.

Anyway, the difference between A Serbian Film (which I haven't seen but I have read about) and pornographic depictions of children (or indeed any pornography) whatever format they're in, is that the former has been judged (whether rightly or wrongly is another question) to have some artistic merit, not to be made and viewed simply for wanking purposes.

I will always think a representation of its different to actually doing.... But i am very very literal in my approach to things, I forget others aren't

Of course a representation is different to the actual doing....

But a guy having child porn pics, even stick man drawings of children being sexually abused by an adult, is not looking at them for their artistic merit.
Do you get this??

If you don't realise this then you're very naive.
