Why is it a problem to you if someone who is biologically female identifies as male? How does that impact your life experience?

I don't have a problem with trans genders per se. My childhood friend in New Jersey is a trans woman who has this habit of asking me to escort "her" to high school reunion dinner dance parties!

I do have a problem with people denying truth, though.

I'm in agreement with you The Gnome about biological sex being binary with there also being a small subset of intersex, and it being impossible to 'change your sex', but not your gender or the way you present that to the world.

But why does this lead you down a path to be so incensed about 'the truth' on this subject in particular? People deny and dispute facts and the reality of situations all the time, even in pretty undisputed arenas, so what is the actual issue that so concerns you on this topic? Why would you make this the priority political topic above others?

Even conceding this effectively pulls the rug out of under trans people. We don't change gender we are our gender. We change sex using hormones and sometimes surgery. It may not be to your liking, but it works, and is effective, and we get to live out our lives as the sex we feel ourselves to be. this is not a parlour game, or a polite, posh debating society. We are not fucking about. We are doing this to save our lives. Or what we have left of it, after living untold years in misery and disconnected from everyone. People really have no idea what it is to be trans because, like you, clearly, they stopped listening to us years ago. Trans is every bit as real as intersex. some have referred to it as intersex of the mind. Also there may be way more intersex people than is currently known as people only get tested when they have a medical issue that is relevant. You should try basing your opinion on more than just a personal prejudice or O level biology.

I am not incensed about this at all. Yes, I am matter of factly but it is the passion that supporters of trans gender politics on the forum that you should be noting; not my responses to them. Don't you think?
