If anybody thinks criminality is a genetical thing, could they please state so now and get it over and done with?

The notion that he thought he had to carry a gun to protect himself from the police who shot his criminal dad is just stupid though.
Sometimes people do weird things like that, but I don’t think it’s the first explanation I’d jump to.
They've shot lots of people who haven't harry had guns, Harry Stanley, Stephen waldorf, diarmuid o Neill for exampleA man who was an armed criminal. Uk police rarely shoot people don’t play gang games don’t need a gun.
Well we can’t judge since neither of our Dads were murdered by the police. But I can hazard a guess it would have had some effect on his upbringing, particularly when people around you growing up are so keen to label him a gangster. Come on this is not rocket science.Only a fucking idiot would think that carrying a gun is less likely to get you killed by the police. But then I guess there's a fair chance that this kid IS a fucking idiot.

Not to mention all the people they've killed by other means than a gun - Oladeji Omishore, Helen Holland, Joy Gardner, Dalian Atkinson and Ian Tomlinson are only a few examples of many. They've shot lots of people who haven't harry had guns, Harry Stanley, Stephen waldorf, diarmuid o Neill for example
I've heard of the sins of the father being visited upon the son, but think this is the first time I've seen someone who seems to be trying to say that the sins of the son should be visited upon the father?
I mean, it seems pretty clear from the thread title onwards that the point of this thread is to have a go at the dead dad? Take the dad out of it and this thread is just "Some bloke you've never heard of has admitted owning a gun", which doesn't seem like something that'd get that much discussion. In what way?

See, this is what I mean by "the sins of the son". Mark Duggan may well have had some gang connections, but I don't think this story by itself does much to prove or disprove that. If I got arrested with a gun tomorrow, would you go "ah, this shows hitmouse's dad is a wrongun?"Oh, I see. I don't read it like that but I'd already seen the story reported. It is after all, newsworthy, and all the media outlets are carrying it.
It also sheds some light on the fact that MD was indeed involved in gangsterism which seemed to be disputed by some at the time. The fact that his son has followed him into gangs and guns and got nicked for it is surely worthy of comment?

No it doesn't. That's sloppy thinking. It also sheds some light on the fact that MD was indeed involved in gangsterism which seemed to be disputed by some at the time.

I (subsequently) saw the next post. It still doesn't.See next post. It does.

It's a muddle of frightened young men and boys, and what people say about someone doesn't (necessarily) make it true.
Non-wronguns don't fuck about with illegal guns.
One of Dessie'sisters is married to a senior Police officer since retired. Knew him from work and I used to live about 400 yards away from themDuggan was a nephew of Dessie Noonan so I guess his son continues the long line of Noonan descendants who have had their collars felt. The Noonan clan members who won the lottery, sparked riots and ruined lives
Having your collar felt isn't proof of anything. After all probably pretty much everyone posting here has been arbitrarily stopped by the police and many of us arrested for no good reason.Duggan was a nephew of Dessie Noonan so I guess his son continues the long line of Noonan descendants who have had their collars felt. Threads like these really bring out the inner wankers in some people.
