The 2024 UK General Election - news, speculation and updates

Apparently Farage is going to make an 'emergency announcement' this afternoon. Standing for election?

This.
Is.
All.
We.
Need.

"emergency", he has deigned to float down from his mighty holdfast to save the free people's of the west. The refugees are at the gate my friends, it is not for thee to hinder the return of the king.

Or grift some more, ere the return of Trump.

Or a pact with the vermin because of the threat of, checks notes, socialism?

As Tolkien himself would say "fuck's sake"

How many times has he tried now? 6? 7?

Probably figures the Tories are so dead he stands a better chance this time round.

I pray he will stand - he might win, and there are risks in that, but that him standing would be a big filip for the wider Reform campaign, which would be devastating for the Tories.

Plenty of seats where an extra thousand Reform votes puts a Labour MP in the commons.

Last time he won a seat ( in the Euros) the only thing he did as an elected member was to collect attendance money and his pension.
I don't have the slightest doubt that his motivation this time is exactly the same. The Frog Lord is a self-serving grifter, he just has this Man of the People air about him. It's as fake as a £9 note but it does seem to fool a disturbing large number of people.

Yeah nah, because whatever British anti trans activists try over there first always ends up being tried over here next and fuck that noise.

Ignoring them doesn't work.
I think it does a lot of the time in this day and age. This is not an organised campaign on the ground, or even a strongly held belief in all likelihood, it's people in an office firing shit at the wall - via social media posts - and seeing what sticks. Ignore it and they just move on.

Ugh. Frogface getting nearly a quarter of the Labour vote according to that Survation poll. Bloody Essex. Place really should be razed with fire.
Blow it up with high explosives pulverise into brick dust, load the brick dust into a rocket and fire the rocket into the heart of the sun

I think you’re trying to do too much 6D noughts and crosses here. Farage in the HoC would be a bad thing.

It would - hence the risks thing in my post.

However, him losing for the 9th(?) time in a row, and 50 fewer Tory MP's, and 50 more Labour ones, would be no bad thing.

It's about weighing up risks and harms.
