The 2024 UK General Election - news, speculation and updates

How did I not know that Rusty Lee had stood for UKIP in my constituency?

Anyway, Reform are standing here, big UKIP vote in the past 7k+, and V brexity.

I wouldn't fall off my chair if Labour wins now - 20k Tory majority in 2019...

Surprising. I'd have bet on the first nonce to be Refuk.
A lot of candidates are last minute regardless of who they're for. Refuk are probably even worse at screening out the bad'uns that the Tories but the Tories have had to rush a lot more through. This guy is going to be the first of several from all parties to be outed between now and July 4.

Shammer bottom of the list; let's hope there's a fold and he's just below it!

They're all up on wikipedia already. Swift work.
No they're not. Wiki adds people when they declare and has been since the election was declared. Only eight of the Rishi seat ones were on there when you posted. The other three (including YouTube irritant Niko) have only been added in the last few minutes. The council websites are going to be ahead of Wiki for the full lists as that's where Wiki editors are getting them from.

WTF??? I've just looked at the polling cards and it seems I've been moved! I am not in Derbyshire South anymore but have been ethnically cleansed into the constituency of Derbyshire Dales. My chance to vote out Heather Wheeler has been snatched from me at the last moment! bunch of cunts! It seems I will have to try and vote out Sarah Dines instead.

In other weird election news. Holly Valance has until 4pm to decide if she’ll stand for Reform. Apologies for the gbeebies link.

No holly valance unless she stood in a different seat to that link.

Newton Abbot has

Labour
Lib Dem
Conservative
Reform
Green

Also

South Devon Alliance (some representation on Teignbridge council; with one of their councillors being the brother of Mark Knopfler)
Volt (pro European reformists)
Heritage Party (gammony types who like castles and stately homes I assume)

So basically nothing for anyone on the left to vote for.

Likely to be very tight between Tory and Lib Dems (I reckon the winner will have a majority in the low hundreds). The local Tory MP is useless and anonymous, as well as being a Tory, she can’t even claim to be a good constituency MP, so is definitely worth getting rid of.

I'm not sure why ukip hasn't changed their name since brexit. Or why they bother at all. They must have about 100 members left (if that). Guess they are Nigel's internal rivals from his ukip days?
