Still, don't think England were as good as much of the press is making out

Agreed. If those two bounces had gone slightly differently ... alright, so we were all over them in the first 30, for sure, but it didn't look like a complete performance to me, not at all.

defensively strong (shout out to that Itoje rip) but attack was way off. Squandered too many changes and there were a number of instances when England didn't seem to know quite what they were doing in attack.

The points scored didn't reflect the dominance they had

Interesting what Woodward was saying afterwards, that he'd start Genge. Presumably he was including if Vunipola was available, which sounds like a pretty big call.

How in the hell is Itoje still only 25?

Agree, they're not on form. Makes losing today's game even more appalling. Seems like a lot got left behind on the pitches in Japan :hmm:

think it is more Sexton is not Best but he still learning

May need to learn to lead the side not try to be its highest point scorer

ah did you not find an RTE stream online :(

was headed off to the pub for the game but they had the friggin football on

I reckon that early blunder got in his head and fucked his game psychologically. He was all panic and couldn't kick because of it. I think you're right about learning - his first big mistake as captain was bound to spin him.

Nope, I listened on radio 5 live though, so all was not lost - last time they had the game on bbc after a week or so.

I'm very reluctant to go looking for live streams of rugby and footie though. I'm always concerned about what I might get at the same time.

as long as you are half way tech savvie, know not to subscribe to anything and manage the pop ups
you can normally find one

used to watch it F1 races before i bite the bullet and started paying

saying that starting to ponder getting a internet protocal televison line in (iptvs)

all the channels you need for a lot less than cable

ta, that looks interesting although they talk of things which I have no understanding like M3U. Mind you I'm not sure I anyway want 100+ channels of shite. I've thought of getting Freeview but I think I need a box for that although I don't actually have a tv.

I'm working my way through UK TV at the moment :)

I've been using a free trial on DAZN (some sport streamy thing that has the rights for the Six Nations in Canada and some parts of europe). You may have to do some fiddling with VPNs to get it working, plus giving it a paypal account or something (although you can cancel the trial before being billed). It works ok with Linux Mint for me.

for anyone who isn't aware, the Women's 6 nations can be watched live on youtube

Well worth a watch, especially given Emily Scarratt is strong contender for p4p best rugby player on the planet

I haven't been catching the games live, but some generous souls have been sticking the games up on youtube which means we catch up with them over the week. Sadly not the case for the men's games. I've been especially enjoying the performances from France. Squidge has a video from the France v England opener which gave me some understanding of what's going on strategy wise.

I just got round to watching Eng vs Ire game last night. Christ we were shit, the final score really does flatter us.

A few things struck me, Larmour is not a fullback, he may get there, but he's not there yet. Can't help but feel that Farrell is sticking with his version of JS plan as I think Addison would have thrived on Saturday due to his positioning sense being better and maybe blunting England's excellent kicking. The second is that our backrow is too lightweight. POM is grand he's a good lineout operator*, good jackle but he's not a devestating carrier, nor a devestating tackler. Again with JvdF, better carrier, but he's not a jackle nor a physical bruiser. I think we'll have trouble until we play Stander at 6, Leavy at 7 (or maybe Will Connors) and Doris at 8.

*Maybe we put too much emphasis on the lineout as an offensive tactic.

Well looks like our remaining games are going to be postponed. Ireland Italy is off. And given that Macron has banned gathering of more than 5000 our game in France looks like it will be postponed too.

In dire news, the Rugby Paper are reporting that 6 nations coverage is going to be sold to Sky for £300m. Way to kill off the game

Isn't the 6N on the free-to-view protected list? Or is PM Cummings going to re-write that to placate the Digger?

Bizarrely it isn't. And only the finals of the WC are on there, so that by the sounds of it CVC will likely be putting the rest behind a paywall also.

If so, can we expect rugby participation to go in a similar direction to that of cricket in the last 15 years?

Anyone see Marler grab wyn Jones’ lad?
