aye and fair play to the Italians its not as one side as the scoreboard presents

just need to work on the break down

I thought Stockdale at 15 was a potential banana skin given he is terrible at tackling and his positional play in general however Italy are perhaps not the team to expose this.

Does show the small margins between catching it one handed = try, and intercepting one handed but knocking on = booking

How is he under the high ball? The French will surely put him under more pressure than Italy managed.

Dropped one as I recall but kicked quite well. Is he at full back because of lack of other suitable full back or a surfeit of wingers?

Kearney the long term incumbent has retired, Larmour is long term injured who has not quite shone at Test level. A decent crop of wingers + the James Lowe now eligible.

Presumably a long term IRFU project as he’s at 15 for Ulster too. It’s worth a go I suppose after all we (England) got to the World Cup final with a full back who isn’t the best at tackling and defensive positioning.

My gut feeling is Ireland will struggle to get a bonus point win in Paris. But “which French team is going to turn up“ is the question everyone asks.

I would say England need to get 30-40 point margin over Italy to put the pressure on. If Ireland have to play expansive rugby to score 4 tries the they may get caught on the counter attack, DuPont looked very sharp tonight.

It's certainly going to be a big afternoon. Not sure I'm happy with France Ireland kicking off after England Italy.

Have I got this right? Assuming England get a 5 point win against Italy......

France will need a bonus point win and win by at least 3 points more than England beat Italy by. Unlikely.
Ireland will need to win against France, and get a better points difference -If England beat Italy by 23 points, Ireland only have to beat France by 1 point, if England beat Italy by 24 points, Ireland need to beat France by 2 points etc?

at least we'll know who needs to do what in Paris.

Or if England and Ireland end up on equal points, is it down to the head to head?

ETA - no

I suppose it's good that Wales-Scotland is up first, as they've each only got pride and ranking points to play for.

My predictions for today

Scotland to win by 4 points
England to win by 39 points
France to win by 13 points
Elpenor to be drunk by the start of the France game

Are you in a different time zone or something? Have you seen the weather out today? I'm planning to remember nothing after half time in the Scotland v Wales game.

I may need to go out after the first game so sparkling water to begin with. After one super Saturday some years ago I left a pub in East Dulwich and ended up in my bed in Reading with little to no memory of my journey
