Six Nations 2023

How the fuck was that not a clear red to the ref? Glad the assistants had the balls to disagree there. Evens out the game too.

I said there'd be grit on both sides

the ref having a massive brain fart there

low level of danger ramming your head into someone in a situation

at least the scot player recarded was during a tackle

Last one shouldn't have been try anyway because after the ball went out the Scottish player touched the ball before the French guy threw it in.

(just been reading the rules for that because it's always confused the hell out of me)

Finlay Bealham is out for the test of the 6N, however Furlong, Park, Sexton, Henshaw and Ringrose are fit (at the moment) for the Scotland game.

A big weekend ahead - all 3 games have something riding on it.

First up it’s the wooden spoon decider. Another frankly odd team selection by Gatland, playing his Dads Army favourites, with Rhys Webb a notable starter, Italy will be going all out for this one. Italy by 7 points, I reckon this will be a good one to watch as Italy play an attacking brand of rugby and Wales can’t defend very well. Hopefully the Hawkins - Grady partnership develops, a good performance from that is probably the most to be expected.

England host a France team who seem to have lost their way and lacking a bit of discipline. The press are talking up a Close England win, mind you I have also observed part of the media have talked up a Wales victory during each of the first three rounds. The good news is that Farrell is dropped and we get to see Marcus Smith alongside a decent ball carrier at 12. The bad news is that it’s going to piss it down all day and the French have a lot of physicality combined with some attacking flair. If England win, which I think they will by 2 points, they have a chance of winning the tournament.

Finally, on Sunday, Scotland host Ireland. Scotland could seal a triple crown by winning, and again they would keep the hope of a first 6N title alive. That said I can’t see them beating this super-efficient Irish team which is close to fill strength. If anything this tournament the Irish have shown they can play their fast and effective style short of a few first choice players, including Sexton or JGP. Scotland could do with a statement victory, particularly as they’ll need to beat Ireland or South Africa this September to get out of their World Cup group. If anyone can do it though, it’s probably Finn Russell, but they’ll have to stop giving away starts to their opponents. But Ireland by 12.

I'm going to Eng v Fra with my daughter tomorrow.

Very pleased that Smith is starting. We both want to see him play. We need a bit of flair and creativity and he's got that. Against Italy, which we also went to, we were guilty of leaving early, just after he came on, when the game was won.
I'm honestly a bit scared that we could be beaten tomorrow, though. I like the way the french play rugby Bit surprised they haven't been particularly impressive this year.

Don't fancy Wales' chances against Italy in Rome. Tbf, the way the Italians have played this year, they don't deserve the wooden spoon, but it's a shame to see Welsh rugby in this state.

Sunday - C'mon Ireland!
