Should There Be A Tier 5 Or Another Third National Lockdown?

Yes, I reckonso.

Even with numbers climbing the way they are people are going to ignore a full lockdown.

Either:

-It’s not real, I refuse to submit

-I’m immune in some magical way

-What’s the point, it didn’t work last time we locked down

-Fuck it, you gotta die of something I’ll go down laughing and take as many with me as I can

-The vaccine is coming, the vaccine is coming!

-Some other ignorant shit

-genuine misunderstanding or lack of information

Timpsons closed as soon as they could - didn't they even put out a press release at the start of this saying that they meant it when they said their staff were their most important asset, so they were closing and paying them regardless?

Because nobody needs their shoes resoled or any keys.

I get the impression in London people aren't following the guidance half as much as March/April/May time - so whatever tier they make it, they're going to have to start enforcing it more.

I agree.
I think due to so many changes to rules, often happening at the last minute and often so bloody vague/unclear, people have been doing what they think is sort of OK rather than there being any really clear laws to follow.

Yes, but in November and again now they are open. Same with WH Smiths, estate agents and a bunch of others.

not sure of more restrictions but the republic have a law in place that you cannot go five km outside of your home area
unless its for work or school

but to bring that it you have to have police support, a change to them needing a reason to pull you over and its not going to happen
Wonder if it would be feasible to set up roadblocks at strategic points to stop unecessary travel. Maybe too difficult given the road network, and could create rat runs on minor roads.

I'm not sure, honestly. I known the virus needs to be got under control, but the thought of several months, in the winter, of everything being shut down and not seeing anyone in person is really fucking depressing.

There's not a lot of point trying to discuss that on here because a few of you seem to not just think a really strict lockdown is regrettably necessary but to be gleeful about it. We all know how this thread is going to go already, so what's the point?

Tier 5 or shutdown, like a Wuhan style shutdown countrywide.

Stay home, one individual per household is permitted to shop for food or medicines once every two days. Other than that everyone stays at home. Security at residential entry and exit points to prevent illegal movement.

Duration of measure, until there are no cases.

What residential entry and exit points? I'm not sure how they managed to get that to work in China, but I can't see how it can be practical here. Putting ring of steel style cordons around boroughs maybe?

Loads of cars missing from my street since Christmas eve.

It's, essentially, what they're doing here in Wales - I was stopped at one during the previous lockdown (sort of Novemberish) and asked where I was going and for what purpose.

It's one of the reasons I am very obediently following my quarantine instructions: there is a very likely possibility that, if I went out and drove somewhere, I might be asked to account for myself.

It is a little disconcerting to read the posts here from people demanding that our increasingly repressive government repress us more. Either you folks are super masochistic or are paid troll collaborators.
"Paid troll collaborators", eh? What would you know about those? :D

The third option, which you appear to have failed to recognise, is that an awful lot of people do realise, perhaps to an extent our clown government hasn't, just how serious this is, are are taking their own steps, in line with the regulations, to ensure their own safety and that of others. As an act of social responsibility and human decency.

So what's your choice, Mr Anarchist? Is it "I'll just do what I fucking like, and screw everyone else, because anarchy"?
