Pro Cycling 2023

I think I have in the past, but to be honest I can't commit as much time to the Vuelta as I do for some Tour stages.

Fuck me, that was a statement from Remco today.
Yes but predictable. Both JV and UAE looking strong. Terrible day for Ineos. If they don’t recover soon they’re out of the game.

Not really. In the past that was a prime situation for Roglic to do his trademark stomp and sweep up the bonus seconds. Now that Remco has shown he can take away the one trick Roglic possesses it might force a Jumbo rethink and go all in for Vingegaard. Ayuso looks good. Ineos are out of it.

Cheeky six second sprint bonus from Remco today. I fear it's still Vinge's to lose though as if he has anywhere near the form he had in France he'll just ride away on a big mountain.

The fact that Jumbo didn’t even bother contesting that suggests they think any overall win is going to be measured in minutes, not seconds.

Just maybe they were sleeping. Anyway six free seconds are six free seconds if they are handed to you on a plate. Roglic made a career out of it.

Disappointed at coverage, it did not start until 86k. A good day for Jumbo's.

Yeah, it's a bit shit... It's universal right? I mean the organisers are just not providing footage for the first 80ks or so. Think GCN said they'll do it for some major stages.

Didn't watch the first few stages (which look batshit), but it is shaping up to be an interesting one, so will probably tune in.

Remco is fucked. Jumbo now have three riders, any one of whom Remco has to chase down if they head up the mountain. Once he’s done that, Jumbo send another. Then another. There’s no rider on earth that could deal with such an onslaught.

Hmm... yeah... caught up with the end of yesterday's. For Jumbo I think these days it's just a case of keeping things consistent and letting their opponents burn themselves out, because they know they need to do things like chase the bonies to have a chance.

That said, I do like mountain duels, and that tactic seems to rely on them.

Getting your first GT stage win at 35, fuck that must be a feeling. Souperbe.

e2a: in a GT you weren't even supposed to be in. His last GT was the tour in 2020.

Hoping the former doesn't have any complications.

I mean it's daft to be relieved at 'broken clavicle', but y'know. You see someone on the deck like that.

Fair play to Remco, admitting that he fucked up the finish, all the while saying "I could've taken Primoz easily, if I'd known".

And whilst I only watched the highlights, there were at least three Partridge moments from Kirby, including:

"This [climb] is the meat on the end of the kebab."
