Pro Cycling 2023

I better get some shit done this morning as the Women’s RR could be fun. Here’s hoping the Dutch argue among themselves yet again and Lotte Kopecky adds to her medal haul.

Women’s Elite was fun to watch. Similar to the men’s even. Felt for CULudwig, wondered if she could’ve got silver if she’d gone harder just after the last corner.

I also got my first exposure to both artistic cycling and cycleball. The former is fucking bonkers; the second quite good fun. Not as good as wheelchair rugby though.

Is the artistic cycling the one on a BMX on the circular stage?

It obviously takes great skill and hard work, but when watching it I couldn't help thinking the competitors should just grow up

I don't think it was a BMX, but a fixie. It was done on what looked like a converted basketball court.

Er... Lanterne Rouge somehow have a nearly 2 hour interview with Remco? wtf? I haven't watched/listened yet, it should be on their podcast feed too.

Not much enthusiasm for the Vuelta then?
Must admit I can never get that enthusiastic about a race with Roglic in it but now Jumbo have also brought Vinge it's a pretty foregone conclusion that they'll strangle it.
Here's hoping Enric Mas or Remco somehow manage to fool them but also keep something back for Il Lombardia.

Not normally that interested in the Vuelta but I'll be paying a bit more attention as a kid we gave work experience to a few years ago (and whose dad is a long term customer) is riding his first grand tour. Sean Flynn, rides for DSM. Hopefully he'll make it through the whole thing :)

I’m looking forward to it. It’s a savage course, even by Vuelta standards.

They couldn't have envisaged that weather but questions will need to be asked. It should have kicked off 2 hours earlier.

What a fucking shambles.

What’s the point of a twisty team TT course? You want long straights, sweeping bends, all at 60kph, not that bollocks, and that’s before you even get to the silly start time meaning some teams were riding around in the dark.

Just occurred to me that all three current GT champions are riding this. Still can't get excited. Forza Il Lombardia!
