I kinda get the safety argument - when it rained at the end of the women’s race this morning some corners looked pretty sketchy. But complaining it’s got too many corners is a bit much

Those drone shots they did were awesome.Foul conditions for the men's downhill. Entertaining to watch though.

A lot of the roads round there if you closed them it would mean like an 80-mile diversion for people that live there. It does seem kind of weird tbf... I mean you've got Loch Lomond and the Trossachs right fucking there, and - by my 5 minutes fiddling with google maps - that could be a viable route still with a few laps of the central Glasgow section. Are the roads shit or badly connected? Don't look it. But I am not a frequent visitor, it must be said.
weepiper what's your general take?
Restart in approx 10 mins for the break, then another 8 mins for the peloton.Have they restarted yet? This is going to fuck up my timings good and proper
If it is StopOil this is something of an own goal. Surely the cycling community is one that is more likely yo he supportive of their aims. You have to laugh. A protest nobody will actually see, and will only annoy. Slow handclap all round.
I’d guess it’s down to Shell sponsoring British Cycling. If it is StopOil this is something of an own goal. Surely the cycling community is one that is more likely yo he supportive of their aims.
Yeah Shell probably has something to do with it but road racing is far from carbon neutral with all the motor vehicles, helicopters etc.I’d guess it’s down to Shell sponsoring British Cycling.
Still daft, talk about preaching to the converted…
I was thinking that but put a couple of quid on Bettiol instead though I think he has gone a bit early.I think it showed how the men’s race will go - the lap is so tight and twisty that the difference of being in the bunch compared to out solo is a lot less than usual.
Anyone that can get a good gap with 2 or 3 laps to go is going to be very hard to pull back, even more so if it end ups wet. A rider like Dylan van Baarle who isn’t going to be quite as marked as the big three could easily pull it off.
How true that proved to be. Fantastic win despite his crash.Anyone that can get a good gap with 2 or 3 laps to go is going to be very hard to pull back, even more so if it end ups wet. A rider like Dylan van Baarle who isn’t going to be quite as marked as the big three could easily pull it off.
Wasn't it more about the ineos involvement or not as the case may be.I’d guess it’s down to Shell sponsoring British Cycling.

No idea, do we even know who it was yet?Wasn't it more about the ineos involvement or not as the case may be.
Yes, I forget who. It was not just stop oil. ...quick search...."this is rigged".No idea, do we even know who it was yet?
More like pissing off the converted.I’d guess it’s down to Shell sponsoring British Cycling.

I get their point - between sponsorship from Shell, Esso, Ineos, various Middle Eastern oil producers etc, pro cycling isn’t exactly clean. But most of the cycling fans out there are very aware of this, so yeah, mostly just going to piss off those already on their side.More like pissing off the converted.
