Pro Cycling 2023

Are the wold championships on BBC? I think they're on GCN but ion Hatch and Blythe are commentating then BBC is an option.

A lot of it won't be them commentating (though presumably it will be for men's road).

Just watched a little bit of women's track qualifiers (Japan)... One on a bike setup that puts drivetrain on the other side of the bike... wtf is that about?

e2a: ah very different setup with forks bit like the Hope-Lotus. Olympics testing I guess.

Our Chilean has just posted a recce ride of the Glasgow circuit in which he's a second off the KOM on the Montrose Street climb, the KOM for which is from the national champs in 2013, so he might be quite good.

Their position on the bike was so good.

The Met Office gives 50% chance of rain on Sunday so given that it's Glasgow we're talking about does that mean it most probably will?
Can't decide on whether to bet on Remco (dry), Mads (wet) or just hedge bets on MvdP.

A good evening on the track, polished off with a cracking men's team sprint.

The look on a sprinter's face as they leave the gates always yells constipation to me.

Watching the women's junior road race and getting quite excited for tomorrow now. Am going over to Glasgow for the day because we've got tickets for the BMX park semifinal, but will try and watch some laps from Montrose Street (if we can get a space!)

This lap is brutal. So many tight corners and short sharp climbs. Will suit the cyclocross riders who are used to these sort of repeated explosive efforts, rather than the diesel engines more used to riding at a constant high tempo.

Good race that. The French frustrated the chase brilliantly. Every time a Brit flicked the elbow there was a French girl refusing to come through.

I think it showed how the men’s race will go - the lap is so tight and twisty that the difference of being in the bunch compared to out solo is a lot less than usual.

Anyone that can get a good gap with 2 or 3 laps to go is going to be very hard to pull back, even more so if it end ups wet. A rider like Dylan van Baarle who isn’t going to be quite as marked as the big three could easily pull it off.
