Hamas/Israel conflict: news and discussion

I thought the Stamford Hill community were largely anti-zionist and a lot of them belong to a sect that believes the Jews shouldn't have their own country till the messiah comes (which'll be a fucking long time I reckon). I may be talking out my arse though

Satmar are anti-Zionist for the reason you state, and they are one of the big Hasidic / Haredi groups in Stamford Hill. But as far as I know the Lubavitchers, Belzers etc aren’t anti-Zionist.

Don’t know if Neturei Carta have a presence in SH

Why don’t you think that and why don’t you believe that?
Why what? Why don't I believe the IDF is deliberately trying to kill civilians. Why would they? What would it gain them or Israel? They don't care that they're killing them but that's not the same as setting out do so.
Killing civilians is clearly eating into the wave of sympathy that they were riding a week ago so why would they deliberately aim to reduce it further.

What?

They have turned off the water supply, what do you expect that to do?

The problem with a two-state solution is that it just replicates the original problem. There'd be two ethno-states instead of one.

In Ilan Pappe book The Ethnic cleansing of Palestine he makes the suggestion that an unintended effect of the post WW2 UN plan to partition Palestine was a driver to ethnic cleansing. It contributed to making the situation worse.

So yes it doesn't just replicate the problem it contributed to causing it. This of course was not the intention of the UN.

At one point , according to Pappe , their was talk of abandoning the partition or at least putting it on hold. Reputable newspaper reports were describing the effect of Zionist paramilitary ethnic cleansing. This was happening even before the Mandate ended.

The problem of the UN partition plan was that the Zionists realized that their bit had a lot of Palestinians in it. Which is not what they wanted at all.

I would imagine it is making life very hard and soon to be impossible for the people on the other end of the pipe. However I would imagine it would be politically impossible for an Israeli govt to keep supplying water and power to a state run by someone who has just brutally murdered over a 1000 of their fellow citizens.

Amongst all the fake videos circulating this appears to be the genuine one, taken from a AJ livestream so could be geolocated etc. See the thread.

It was the same in India and Ireland. The British habit of partition has never been a great success.

Water, food, power and medicines are human physiological needs, nothing to do with the "state". That's why deliberately denying them is a war crime/crime against humanity.

British campaign group Palestine Action focus on the arms aspect and I think it's a good angle for people living here to focus on as the campaign can and has had a tangible effect and leads to broader consideration of the arms industry
palestine action are going to need support with many trials for actions against Elbut ongoing or imminent Trials - Palestine Action

This is allegedly the strike on the hospital. One powerful missile.

This was retweeted by Christopher Steele, ex-MI6 head of the Russia desk. So, hardly a bleeding heart liberal or someone who’s easily mislead.

For those that a being mislead by the IDF propaganda machine listen this.

Clearly a rocket under propulsion and travel at high speed.

Surely it was inevitable that the people least able to leave would be disabled, injured, elderly, very young and heavily pregnant/labouring women.
The most vulnerable of people in Gaza were most likely to be harmed - we knew this.
Tories and Labour encouraged this. They've got blood on their hands.
