Glastonbury 2008

Wiskey is now following the weather  :D

I'm getting a bit obsessed with checking the weather all the time lately.

I dont think they're unreliable forecasts though.
They're just keeping up a bit better these days.
A few hours of heavy rain anytime between now and next week will mess up that pilton site.
I'm not wishing it on you all though as I've got plans of my own

This is a long shot but ...A very good friend is working at Glastonbury this year has wrecked her leg in an accident. She's organizing and supervising 50 litter pickers* in the green fields so can't miss Glastonbury.

Ideally a wheelchair or even a wheelbarrow would be off enormous help for her to get around. She can't take her hired one as Glastontbury mud will probably wreck it :(

someone else i was talking to is working and has recently had extensive leg reconstruction - GFL are laying on something for her, possibly an electric wheelchair.

So your person should try them but tbh I think that it was organised months ago.

I still havent got my ticket... I do however have a car park pass which says on the back "persons over 12 without a ticket will not be admitted"

Im praying the car park stewards will be cool with it if I do have to go collect my ticket!

put a hoody on and tell them you're joyriding. ;)

If anyone else is still up... if you've tried GlastoEarth already and fancy a try at our (possibly fucked up-non working!) new version, I'd be interested to know if it loads. As long as you aren't on 2007, it should just be a case of opening Google Eaerh, finding the map, and seeing... well, look in 'Bonus Features'. New stuff should be obvious from there.

the new version doesn't seem to be working for me - I get the 'glasto earth' bit in my places but it won't go there, and if I zoom on it I just get google earth worthy farm pictures. Very nice if you're looking for pictures of fields but not much good for much else. :( It worked before..... :(

Lmhf

Just saw this on the glastonbury site about ticket collection.

The ticket collection point is located on the southern edge of the Festival Bus and Coach Park, just inside the main gate on the A361.

The ticket collection office will be open from 8am to midnight, Wednesday 25th – Sunday 29th June.

If you arrive by car you must follow signs to the Yellow Car parks on the West of the site (access from the A361).

Show your email confirmation or confirmation number to the stewards who will be able to direct you to the Ticket Collection point which gives convenient access to Pedestrian Gate A.

Please note: There is no access to the collection office from the East side car parks.
If using a Sat Nav device the relevant postcode is BA4 4AZ

Hopefully you won't need it though. :)

Can you open the GlastoEarth folder, or does it just show with a red blob underneath?

I can't open the folder. Im not sure about the red blob bit, but it does sound about right but I'll have to wait til I get home later on to check to be sure.

I liked that map. Jolly useful it was. :(

Do cashback at Sainburys before you go. Takes three days to come outta ya account so you'll be fine. They usually do £50 max per transaction so just go back a few times.

i cant really do that coz my overdraught is maxed out and il get charged. good suggestion though.

I don't get paid til the monday. We've got cash for the weekend but I'm going to Waitrose tuesday night to stock up on last minute bits, spirits and nibbles and cigarettes. I'll have to go to Waitrose cos none of the other supermarkets take cheques now.

Most of the stalls, especially in the greenfields area, have now got card readers to accept debit and credit cards so you shouldn't need much cash :)

yeah thats cool. its food im more worried about! hope some food stalls take card payments :D just need cash for beer then .

It really is most surreal all round, this year - after years and years of the police trying to stop you going into Glastonbury town centre after the festival, and 2 years of doing their damnedest to stop you going beforehand, Michael Eavis is entreating
people to spend time there, and the abbey is offering 2 for 1 admission to festival goers :D

do any of the glasto shops/stalls etc offer cash back????

I doubt it.

A couple of my mates spent over 5 hours queuing up at the cashpoint in 99 or 2000! Luckily they were on acid at the time so it was bearable :D

The cashpoints are 24hour so I'm sure if you went in the early hours there won't be much of a queue though :)

i was thinking that. im sure il be awake :D

you do know there a bank dont you? and cash points in pennards?

you can get cash out.

I dont get paid till fri either.

I really dont remember there being huge queue's last year

I've used the cash machines every year cos I'm always paid whilst I'm there

each time I've been wankered and had superb conversations with the people around me :D

always go around 3am :D

I'd just have your card on you and every time you stumble past think 'how bigs the queue' and then stand in it when you feel the time is right.

use the force or something ;)
