Glastonbury 2008

Tbh the press release for Shangri La did make me think it would be a bit snooty about folks not dressed up but everything else about it seems great. Lots of seperate tents with all night music and drinks sounds a lot like Vagueness was a few years back and should help with crowds.

It'll be like LV before it became oversubscribed and under-thought out, and before the coke took over...

A lot of the same people, but with different people heading it up

I hope so, I had the best times ever in LV a few years back - it was the year they had an outdoor stage with an all night techno tent in the same field and another tent run by folks associated with the church of bob (I think!). Good times

When Zion Train played on the outdoor stage? That was ace..

Hope this shangri la thing is good, cos lost vagueness, especially by last year, really should have been down by the pyramid stage or the dance tent for the way it was. Not in the green fields, where people used to know how to have a bloody good time all by themselves thanks.

Gutted the tipi field's moved, presumably because of it all, that used to be a wicked little place to go for a sit and calm down out of the way for a while. Then by sitting there you became part of the tourist attraction, getting filmed by people walking past in shiny new camping gear doing the 'glastonbury experience'. Now that field's yet another entertainment area.

Hope the entertainment is great, i really do, but can't help feeling a little sad at the loss of what was such a lovely little corner of the site.

wasnt it called the lost stage?? it was ?purple with green bits??

That was a superb year and I spent an entire day in front of that stage which I have never done before or since!

2003 i think

I think im getting my years mixed up (easy to do!), the church of bob tent was before the outdoor LV stage. But yeh, it was great that year anyway :)

Bah, im trying not to think too much of Glasto anyway, my attendence this year is totally dependent on the weather forecast!

Wasn't it the Sunday when Yes bored the pants everybody on Jazzworld so we all de-camped to the Lost Stage for Gringo Ska & Top Cats. What a day that was! I ended up doing fire poi outside Meccadonalds!

Ah meccadonalds. :( Monday morning, I saw some very stupid twat (who I initially thought was crew) climb to the top of the meccadonalds tent and then fall off head 1st and hit the stage with a bang I will never forget.

Favour offered: Looks like I will have a spare seat or two in my minibus heading to Glasto leaving London early/mid afternoon Wednesday, back not very early Monday.

PM me if interested.

Giles..

Some fucking good acts booked for shangri la , looking forward to seeing Tom Mansi and the icebreakers.
I see that Prince Buster is playing too, anyone know if he is any cop these days he must be getting on a bit?

If anyone else is still up... if you've tried GlastoEarth already and fancy a try at our (possibly fucked up-non working!) new version, I'd be interested to know if it loads. As long as you aren't on 2007, it should just be a case of opening Google Eaerh, finding the map, and seeing... well, look in 'Bonus Features'. New stuff should be obvious from there.

Missed that completely!!!!

REALLY????

He was pretty damned good last August at the Rhythm Festival, top backing band. He must be well over 70, but he still seemed well up for a storming performance, and he looked fit and well :)

<hopes PB is not on during shift or bad clashes time ... >

the models are v fine :)

Cool :)

We're surfing the edge of the bandwidth cap on the hosting, so had to be a little low key about this release ;)

I've finished my fancy dress costume, I'll be She-Rah :D

So if you spot a She-Rah like person on Thursday come & say hello & I will wave my bubble blowing sword at you

well looks like things might be on the up in terms of weather.

the beeb has changed mondays symbol from a two drop cloud with a lightning fork to a huge yellow sun!

weather forecasters are so fickle.

Yep, metcheck's reporting dandyness with a little cloud and one light shower for the whole week (except tomorrow) at the moment. Yay!

no times for shangri la yet tho, "stars of shameless" could be interesting? :D

Am I the only one looking at a clashfinder and doing "research"?

This is a long shot but ...A very good friend is working at Glastonbury this year has wrecked her leg in an accident. She's organizing and supervising 50 litter pickers* in the green fields so can't miss Glastonbury.

Ideally a wheelchair or even a wheelbarrow would be off enormous help for her to get around. She can't take her hired one as Glastontbury mud will probably wreck it :(

Please PM me if you can help.

Thanks

Muckypup

*She's raising funds for a charity she set-up and now co-runs in her spare time (unpaid position). The charity is http://www.kiota.org/
