Glastonbury 2008

I've decided to give Glasto a miss this year - only my second non-appearance since 1992!

I thought about the mud land rain last year and the miserable faces compared to the Glade (worse weather - happy faces), then realised that we would have to apply with photos/id/mother's dogs maiden name etc, then saw the lineup (and I know Glasto isnt about bands but last year it certainly wasnt about 'the vibe') heard rumours that Lost Vagueness werent going) and just thought 'Fuck it'. I've goyt my Glade tix and will probably go to Bestival, Secret Garden party and a few other little ones.

I hope everyone has the Glasto they wish for, acres of dry grass and wall to wall sunshine. Maybe see you there in 2009;)

I think it all really depends on how mucky you're likely to get & how much manual effort you are likely to be putting into your allotted tasks and therefore whether you can reasonably expect to have showers provided. Also those that have meals included as part of their deal would presumably want to be camped in an area fairly close to their allotted canteens. For somebody such as yourself who is unlikely to do anything more strenuous than lugging a few newspapers & packs of loo roll around I think you can probably get away with slumming it with the plebs :p

When I worked on the J/W stage we were pulling 17 hour days of hard graft - a nearby, uncrowded and fairly quiet camping field was more than welcome. Info work is shorter hours (8 at a time) and less physically draining (although probably more mentally so!), I'ver always pitched in public areas and been quite happy with it.

I would say the majority of workers could/should be in public fields, there are not too many who do the long long hours of physical work.

(at the J/W, food was in the backstage area and we jumped in the artists showers when they had finished tarting themselves up)

No way!!!!! :( :hmm:

Another old schooler bites the dust ....

... and I was REALLY looking forward to meeting up with you for that Cider Bus chat ....

You know that you'll now be hearing reports of a scorcher this time, don't you ....

heard rumours that Lost Vagueness werent going)

Like Sunray said, that's a GOOD thing ... check out earlier posts on LV when you get time ....its replacement ill be a miles better.

and just thought 'Fuck it'. I've goyt my Glade tix and will probably go to Bestival, Secret Garden party and a few other little ones.

Bestival is off for us for th time being (doshflow issues), but we might?? reinstate it.

Maybe see you at one of the little ones perhaps ....

Talking about weakening

last night was primed and ready to buy tickets :D

got on to See, entered all details no probs.

AND then :(

no fecking car park tickets :(

I am too old for the coach fiasco and don't know what going on the train would be like.

Just don't think I could cope with that - I like to have a store of clean dry clothes and stuff in the car. Too old and weak for all that extra walking with heavy loads.

Anyone think any more parking tix will be released?

And what is the last day to cancel? If I bought tix in vain hope of scrabbling a car park pass?

You can buy a car park sticker on the gate Penni. I suspect they are just saying they are sold out to encourage people to take the coach package option.

but don't you have to have one of the stickers on your windscreen to even approach the site?

I could not live with the annxiety of driving all that way and not being able t get parked

That's what they told everybody when they first introduced the stickers but in reality you can drive right up to the gate without one and buy one from the car park stewards. It's what I did in 2004 when they forgot to send mine with my ticket. They always make sure they have enough space for a few extra cars because they don't want to risk cars being abandoned in the lanes or have the unofficial car parks where all the wrong'uns used to hang out springing up again.

Tort speaks the truth about the car park tickets. My mate managed to buy a car park ticket on the gate last year without any problems.

Also if you order by phone I think they'll sell you a car park ticket with your normal ticket, I think they are just showing as sold out on the web.

Methinks you are right.

have just picked this up on Efests :)

however I also just found out we can get 3 nights in Prague for almost the same money - flight hotel and all :D

Decisions decisions - I really want to see the Brian Jonestown Massacre - that is what made me weaken in the first place.:D

This was timely, I was going to post a question about car parking. My friends have just bought tickets online and couldn't get car park ticket but I just phoned Sees and bought one over the phone so cheers guys.

I've done it!!!!!!

Got tickets - well not got them in my hot little hand :D

but ordered them and car park ticket over the phone!

Totally painless

now I know I'm going I realise I was in total denial about how much I wanted to go! :D

Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!

[Re Bestival] Better be quick if you're thinking about reinstating it. Think the only tickets left are the ticket/ferry combos...
:)

I know, but the cost is phenomenal and it's well before payday atm.

May? yet happen in time, if not Scarlet Mist could be our friend, or Deb's Island contacts or something. We're still in two minds (four minds? :p ) about it anyway ...

</derail :oops: >
