Food Shortages

Anecdotally there's a noticeable lack of communal rubbish bin emptying happening in Edinburgh. Lots of overflowing bins everywhere. Someone I know called the council to complain and was told it's because they've lost a lot of lorry drivers to the (better paid) supermarkets.
My nephew apparently thinks the current crisis is great, He and his girlfriend were planning to buy an house and get out of the one they were renting, But his girlfriend had a little boy earlier this year and they reckoned that would disrupt their plans without her returning to work. My brother reckons my nephew and his young lady are now in the position where they can have their cake and eat it and then get another cake. Silver lining in the darkest cloud and all that.

Sorry to hear about all the shortages you guys are having.
Brings back memories of shortages at the beginning of covid.

In my part of Canada, there are random shortages on things like pet food and paper products.

The shortages seem to disappear in a couple of days.

As for the booze, I see empty sections in the wine part of the store.
Nothing major, there are plenty of other wines to choose from.

Our garden waste collections have been cancelled, shortage of drivers apparently, (because they’re bailing out to go for the £30k? Can’t blame them)

No chicken or lettuce in our Tesco, otherwise pretty much normal

My son’s father-in-law is a shelf loader in Tesco and he says they’ve had a lot less deliveries coming in

Wonder how long before the Brexiteers, Gammons and #ToryScum start suggesting national service is the answer to these avoidable issues?

Sainsbury's in Luton was fairly well stocked with most things, but the dairy shelves were really low. There were empty shelves with the usual 'high demand' signs up  in most aisles.

Its all the cheap stuff that's gone at my local Sainsbury's. No 17p bottles of fizzy water anymore, just the ones that cost three times as much. Same for a lot of other things. I know that's sensible from their perspective but they're still wankers for doing it like that. Lidl has been far more random about what's missing.

Mrs Q has texted me to tell me that the BP on the way to school has run out of petrol and she had to panic buy at Sainsburys instead

I've just managed to fuel up with no problems at the local BP station...albeit at a price that i wouldn't normally countenance!
Geri rellies had been ringing all morning worried sick that we wouldn't be able to drive down to look after them; at least they're more reassured now.
