England Cricket 2022

They pause the game for a bit of drizzle. I'm sure they could pause it to avoid dodginess such as that.

He's not a 'neutral' umpire - which is something that became irrelevant with DRS but without it, eyebrows might be raised with decisions like that. You could see Blundell was mighty fucked off walking off there.
And again, cricket coped with home umpires and no DRS for many decades.

Them's the breaks. It would have been absurd to have stopped play for that, especially with rain forecast for this afternoon.

Well, I'm sure you remember the odd bust up and accusations of umpires cheating pre-DRS

100-3 that session in the end. NZ will take that, I think. 325-8 from 123 for 5 (12345!) is a good effort.

But England made that NZ's session first by dropping catches and then by trying to bounce Southee. Stupid tactic.

DRS crapped out at one point yesterday as well. As soon as it started working again England reviewed a 'caught behind' that went nowhere near the bat.

Wow - Boult is on 🔥

Crawley out for 4. Good ball but won’t be happy with the shot. That’s got to be him done now, for his own good

I said no batting collapses dammit!

This is where the 'look at our new positive approach' thing gets put under real pressure isn't it. If Bairstow comes in at 17/3 then gets out quickly trying to hit it out the ground that really isn't a good look.

You have to say. That was juvenile batting from Stokes.

You're 4 down. You're captain. You've got a fired up nutter back into the team coming in like a bat out of hell. Maybe give it an over or two.

I hope they've got a defibrillator there somewhere coz Wagner's gonna have a minor heart attack if this continues.

Watching the wickets, I'm letting Lees, Pope and Root off. Maybe Pope should have been lbw rather than bowled, but those were jaffas. No disgrace.

Crawley was very loose, though. Good ball, but there was a huge gap between bat and pad.

Foakes. It did swing a bit, but he played right across it and was very late. Not great but he'd just come in.

Stokes? On comms, Vaughan said it disrespected test cricket. That's a bit of a big statement. However, it was certainly disrespecting Neil Wagner, and that is what always happens when you do that.

So having failed to fit Bairstow into Test cricket, we've fitted Test cricket into him instead.

I can't see how it's sustainable really. As someone said on comms, only two players in that side are capable of playing 'baz-ball' and thats Stokes and bairstow. Although Overton isn't doing his chances any harm.

Still, it'll get bums on seats for the ECB.
