2016 Coup in Turkey?

Some speculation on my part: please tell me if it's an hysterical overreaction, or a likely (or even just possible) scenario.

Erdogan will now use his political capital to kill off Kemalism as the hegemonic, official ideology of Turkey - 'kill off' both metaphorically and literally.

I'm not familiar with Kemalism as a philosophy but considering how he's rounding up his politcial enemies it seems Erdogan is engaging typical counter revolutionary reaction

I think it's likely. Erdogan's "democracy" will become even more of a farce. The Islamists are elated.
The fear now is that he will exploit the uprising not only to purge the army but to intensify his undeclared war on the Kurdish minority in the south-east, to lash out at pro-Kurdish and other opposition politicians (who have unanimously condemned the coup), to bludgeon through controversial constitutional changes enhancing his presidential powers, and increase his government’s harassment of independent media, journalists and academics.
For Turkey's sake, Erdoğan should resist desire for revenge

That in itself could lead to another proper coup in future..if there's anyone left in the army to carry it out once the sultan has finished his purge. This inept business seems more like a tremor rather than the real thing .
Erdogan has actually called it " a gift from God " . Turkey is about to go into a very dark place . No doubt about that .

Was about to "like" your post but that seems inappropriate given what you are saying. :(.

Nah. This is nothing. I'm on my way there next week.

It's so much of nothing, I even suspect that Erdogan is behind the whole business.

It's not nothing with hundreds dead and people terrified. It's like psychological warfare. My salary is paid by the government and I am not sure how many more times I can walk into a classroom the day after a massive bomb or one of our students having been killed and just try to be normal. Of course, at least as a Brit I have the choice and luxury of being able to leave.

Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, after people chanting "We want death penalty": "We got the message."

Also many people chants "We don't want PKK in the parliament!" (meaning HDP). It doesn't matter if they have nothing to do with any of this.

I'm not sure how you manage to order the purging up of 2,700 judges less than 24 hours after the coup starts.
Unless you already have their names. On a list. Called "My Enemies".
Military being detained first and sorted out later

I am thinking that these things are not unconnected

U.S. Troops at Turkish Air Base on 'Condition Delta'

U.S. troops at Turkey’s Incirlik air base were at the highest force protection level, known as "condition Delta," after the power was cut off at the base and the Turkish government closed the airspace around the site just hours after a foiled military coup attempt, a U.S. official told ABC News today....
