XL Bully dog - discussion

Playground where I used to live was out of action for a while as swings, climbers, etc had been used for dog training. Total destruction.
Yeah, I've heard of that, dogs using the playground equipment for exercise, or tree branches being used to train pits, staffies, XL bullies etc. on their biting. The playgrounds are not for dogs, they are for kids but no, dog owners have to use the swings and so on to train their pets.

They probably don't even consider it a risk. Too many people only see pets through the lens of "animated soft toy that'll look good on my Insta" rather than as animals in their own right and remain blissfully ignorant of the innate ability for them to maim and kill things.

I grew up in between the town and the country, so there were a lot of townies who'd head out our way with their dogs. The after-effects of many a poorly-trained dog let off the leash - mostly the carcasses of local rabbits and sheep - were a common sight in my stomping grounds.
That's another reason I hate XL bullies - what they do to farm animals and wildlife. It only takes one or two dogs to kill an entire flock of sheep or cause ewes to miscarry. And these animals aren't pets, they're a farmer's livelihood. Plus they've gone after cattle, I've seen photos of an XL bully in Scotland being tossed on the horns of Highland cattle and still not giving up. And then their owners whine when the farmer shoots the dog. Well, don't let your dog loose around farm animals then, fuckwit.

It's not uncommon to see large branches torn from trees by dogs around here. Fucking owners...

I mean, I get cats are bad for wildlife and kill birds but at least my cat doesn't go into a playground meant for kids and destroy or shit and piss on equipment, and frighten kids away from using it. Or force people to hide in a basketball court while prowling around outside.

They're often caused by industrial or farm machinery, to give an idea of the level of force involved.
Yeah, that's how I heard of them, used to work for a law firm that specialised in personal injury cases and also worked as a call handler for one of those 'have you had an accident in the last three years?' phone lines.

The Irish woman who bragged about how she didn't give a fuck about the ban, how the XL bullies she owned were like her children and how she hoped she'd die before her dog did certainly got her wish alright. She came home from a night out and at least one of them mauled her to death. They didn't care about you, hun. They didn't love you. You were nothing but a giant piece of meat to them. And it sounds like she enjoyed the feeling of power she got from owning large dangerous dogs.

Re degloving, Gregory's Game has a famous scene with a character getting degloved. Do not watch if you're squeamish.

Is this news story carried somewhere? It’s a hell of a morality tale.

I think you mean Gerald's Game? Probably not Gregory's Girl anyway.
I did mean Gerald's Game, yes. I have no idea what the fuck I got it mixed up with Gregory's Girl for, although the girl in it is a goalie so I guess there are scenes involving gloves.

The woman I was on about was Nicole Morey, and her Instagram is still up AFAIK and has loads of pics of her and her dogs.

From the description of her I'd imagined someone much older. At 23 you're basically still a kid. Clearly shouldn't be making decisions about owning or caring for potentially lethal animals.

Nor should anyone else come to think of it.

23 is old enough to know better tbh. She gave it the big one about having an XL bully and acted like it made her tough and hard and oh so devilish and naughty. Her own stupidity got her killed.

Speaking as an owner of the dog type at your top, I’d just like to say that he can be a right little prick too.

tbf collies can be killers too, most dogs can, collies more than many breeds as they can be quite highly strung. But at least you'd stand a chance in a square-go with Ted, unlike one of these xl monstrosities.

Add to the fact that the sort of fuckwit that is attracted to these creatures is nearly always gonna be least suited to attempt any kind of meaningful training of the beast and it's a recipe for disaster.

I don't get why people want ugly dogs that are also violent ?
There are basically two types: people who want a big mean dog with cropped ears that shows how hard and badass they are (and they can go on about how soft the dog is all they like, but if XL bullies are so fucking soft then why are they always having their ears cropped, and don't tell me it's for health reasons because that is a lie) and how they're in control of a beast that will be loyal to them but vicious to their enemies, and the Fiona Apple types who feel sorry for XL bullies and pits and think they can change them and that they're nice misunderstood dogs really.

David Raya bought one for security. Why he couldn't have bought a GSD or a Dobermann, I'll never know. Dobermanns are actually bred to be guard dogs for a start.
