West Ham 2022-23: The Road to Prague

Another meek surrender to The Big 6. Not feeling massively confident even for the Forest game next week
Nah, we're limping on. The only positive is that everybody is injured but as soon as I saw 5 defenders + rice, soucek and downes then I knew the game was up. Saw something this morning that said we've had 4 shots in 3 games. That's fucking dire, no matter who we were playing. I think this is just one of those seasons, the perfect storm of trying to change the way we play, getting new players to bed in, world cup disruption and the never fucking ending west ham new signing injury curse.

Forest just drew with City. We're going to play a half fit Danny Ings on his own up front, with defensive midfielder Finn Downes as the trequartista supplying the ammunition.

Larnaca next. Their Europa League results so weren't that bad so not a walkover but a good draw I think

Yeah, could be worse. I have to miss that one so glad it's not a "big" team.

Dont forget there's a train strike that day

"We will not accept what happened today and we are going to try and do something about it".

Inspirational stuff Dave, thanks very much.

And you've been donating to Tories too. Bad week for West Ham fans.
Yeah, not great but, TBF they've always been Tories and I'm sure lots of other companies do the same thing. At least they haven't ordered anybody to be murdered and dismembered, so there's that.

Yeah I saw most of your fans are pissed off. Very true last point - what a state the game is.

1 more league game in March, then 7 in April. Plus the Euro games hopefully. At least the next 3 months wont be boring

last game against Leicester could be a decider.

7 homes games left, including Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd and Newcastle.

I think we're fucked. Wouldn't bet on us away from home.

Bookies have us at 5/1. That is.... tempting.

I can see us getting 10 or 12 points and that might be enough with so many teams being similarly rubbish. Villa and Southampton at home next are massive. After that we wont get many points til the last 2 games. Unless we have one of those miraculous runs and beat ManUtd and Liverpool.
Its mad that we are in such trouble after the last couple of years - I wonder if they could raise themselves for the Conference final a week after relegation.

Yeah, the more I look at it the worse it gets.

Home: Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd, ------ Newcastle, ------ Leeds, Southampton, Villa

Away: Man City, ----- Brentford ----- Leicester, Palace, Bournemouth, Fulham

We've got no chance with the first column, slightly more with the middle and the third column are "winnable" (even though the way we are playing we haven't been winning them).

Let's be positive and say we get nothing from the first group and one win out of the two in the middle. we win 2 out of the 3 home games and one win and a draw from the aways. That gives us 13 points, which gets us to 36 (and, to put it into context we've won 6 games so far this season so 4 in the next 13 is unlikely).

Last year Burnley were relegated with 35 points, in 2021 Fulham with 28, in 2020 Bournemouth with 34, 2019 Cardiff with 34, 2018 Swansea with 33.

I mean I like the Championship and getting relegated with a midfield of the Czech captain, the England number 6 and the Brazilian number 8 is so West Ham that it will be one of those things that we talk about for the next 10 years but still....

It will be funny to see that little fake Russian's face when $100 million gets wiped off the value of his asset though. Worth it for that.

Not a good weekend with Bournemouth and Everton winning. 3 weeks til the next game so I expect Rice and Scamacca et al will be taking the time to decide where to play next season.

Bollocks to West Ham United.
They have a board packed with Tories, ones who donate to them.
They have fiddled a free stadium at the expense of the taxpayer that if anything should’ve gone to the decent East London club Leyton Orient, and betrayed their fan base by leaving the lovely atmospheric theatre of memories the Boleyn Ground (convenient for public transport) to move to a distant concrete soulless place unsuited to football.
No amount of cutesy bubble blowing can cover the fact that West Ham United are now a creation of vile Tories and Tory shills, and they have sadly changed from a decent exciting culturally settled East London football club to a cunt club who shat on their fans and everybody else.
MacDonalds is hugely popular, but it is still vile crap.

We're either a point ahead or already two points back, depending on how you look at it. :)

What if they solved the Irish border question on penalties?

I mean that includes Chelsea. And Spurs. They literally burned down somebody's business so that they could build a cheese bar.

How can we get back to the lofty heights of one of the best four or five teams in London?
My perspective regarding ‘best’ is more than on field success.
I mean Chelsea get supposed success on the field but they’re a pile of shit too.
The tragedy is that genuine long term fans of these clubs are treated like ballast by some of these clubs, but they can’t really change allegiance very easily.
However fans who equivocate in order to glory in the inglorious are irritating. Newcastle United being a recent example.

Well, we agree on that.

Good draw for us I think
Apr 13th QF Leg 1 in Ghent
Apr 20th QF Leg 2 vs Gent at home
May 11th SF Leg 1 vs Alkmaar/Anderlecht at home
May 18th SF Leg 2 in Alkmaar or Brussels

Booked my trip to Ghent since its Easter and no-one is doing any work anyway.
Alkmaar must be decent to beat Lazio but Gent should be ok

We could be playing European football in the championship next season!
