F*ck Wrexham - the 23/24 League Two Thread

Sutton United look pretty doomed I have to say. Always helps other clubs battling relegation when one spot looks sewn up already. Dreadful side.
Shame as a lot to like about them as a club, far more of a promotion on merit than us spunking Vince's millions.

They’ve rolled the new manager dice in the last week but will take a miracle to keep them up. Always felt them as a solid non league club having a holiday in the EFL- see also Dagenham & Barnet.

Not got anyone in place yet though, isn't it? I wanted us to go for Duff, who's available and was great at Cheltenham. Don't seem to see his name bandied about for other vacancies though so maybe on a break. ETA meaning bet he'd do a great job at Sutton too.

They tend to appoint from within, normally, but probably need a complete re-set & an outside candidate. A Hessenthaler-type (not that he’s in the running).

Surprised Duff out the game.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to see Tranmere win away,

2 away wins on the bounce. Tonight's was a tough one and had the feel of a nil nil until we got the 1st goal on in the second half. Both sides struggled with the high winds and rain and the home crowd were very subdued. Even the announcer had a bit of a dig towards the end of the game, thanking the crowd for the vocal support.

Two poor defences at Swindon, difference was their better finishing. Two strong pen appeals waved away, one stonewall, then softer one given at death. Could have nicked a point but weak chip into keeper's hands. Death spiral continues.

All the emotions today with our 4-2 win over Notts County. We came out attacking from the start and got the first goal and it visibly knocked the Magpies. It took them a while to get into the game and it was a silly error that allowed them to get the equaliser. We didn't learn and they got a second which now had us on the backfoot until just before half time when we managed to equalize in time for the break. The second half saw us manage a third goal and we started to dominate the game again. We then had a penalty that was saved and I thought we'd see out the game as a 3-2 win but we then got a second penalty decision which was converted.
I'm just hoping that we can hang onto Rob Apter because he makes all the difference for our attacks.

All the other relegation candidates are appointing seasoned managers. We have to beat Salford today to have a hope.

We've managed to re-sign Rob Apter in the January window.Really glad because we really missed him last week against Barrow. No one else seemed to be able to create the attacking runs and shoot at the goal.

Steve Morison got the Sutton job after jumping ship from Hornchurch. Good opening draw v Barrow. Be interesting to see if he can keep them up.

The farce continues. Twenty nine days in charge.

Utterly bizarre stuff. Any idea what happened? From a distance Deeney did seem to be a bull in a china shop there. But no idea why FGR have fallen into such a mess in the last 18 months.

The whole set-up is wrong behind the scenes and too much Vince's own plaything. He can be patient - too patient with the likes of Pennock back in NL days - but he's also the victim of trendy ideas or the publicity stunt, hence swapping between untried youth coach with a good PowerPoint and ex-Prem star who'll get the plaudits. The former worked with Rob Edwards but then he left dtraight after promotion and the DoF got poached too. Seems he's finally woken up too late and we'll likely end up with Flynn ex of Newport who at least knows how to preform a great escape in this division. ETA Just seen Bowyer is in the frame too.

Should add, I was quite amenable to the young coach/bring on players approach, but a whole load of other factors then undermined them. Our head of recruitment should have gone two managers ago as well.

Flynn would likely be a great shout. Not sure what's gone on at Swindon- a sudden departure.

Clearly FGR would benefit from a period of stability and calm and a coach given time.

Good result today away at GTFC. We bossed the game from the start and reduced the Mariner's chances to just a few attacks in the 1st half. Rob Apter got our first but we let them get the equaliser and in the second half it was definitely a case of holding on as the Mariners made more of an effort with their attacks. However we managed to again get back in control and Charlie Jolley got the second goal. Good support from the travelling SWA and despite there being over 6500 fans in the ground all the noise was from our corner of the ground.
Didn't see Captain Haddock this time so wasn't able to rib him about his slip up last season.

Amazingly a win, and away.at decent opposition too, albeit Barrow on bit of a wobble. Cotterill has had them playing much better, but needed time to get a couple in and sort a few things out. Would have been more comfortable too without yet another loose pass from our pricey signing McCann and Stockton cracking a belter from forty yards out.

Massive clear-out of backroom staff who've all been part of the long failure, CEO, DoF and head of recruitment all gone today. Wonder if Cotterill asked for that before he agreed to come in?

It's a funny old game. Before today's match I wasn't too hopeful for us getting a draw after a last two match losses against Donny and Morecambe but Rovers came out attacking from the off and it rocked County. They had a couple of attempts but we held firm and scored 4 against the league leaders. A fantastic result and next weekend we head to FGR.

Great win against the other Rovers after their fine showing against County, SC really has our defence set up so much better. Tranmere not as good coming forward as expected with a lot stray bar the excellent Apter. The only goal was a good move and then hit from distance by McCann, hope that ups his confidence as he's a bit wayward to date but always trying. Innis bit unlucky with the cards, first soft and second they claim was a slip, and wasn't best pleased with the lengthy added time when you're in our situation hanging on but the difference now is it didn't seem inevitable we'd crumble and we didn't.
Long haul ahead but survival now a distinct possibility. especially if we can beat Grimsby at theirs. Good time to 'fuck Wrexham' too Tuesday given they're having a bit of a wobble.

Really limp outing in our relegation six pointer at Blundell Park. Lovely finish from a mariners back in their early flurry, then they sat back a bit and neither side did much of anything else.

Amazing home triumph against red hot form favourites Walsall in a very ref affected game. They were definitely shading it without really bossing, and fluffed a couple of good chances, but we stayed in it and went ahead with a lovely goal on the break. Then soft pen against which loanee keeper Reyes saved superbly and their lad chickened out of an easy rebound, then they go down to ten hacking down Doidge as last man, then a soft pen to us this time when Omotoye ran into their keeper, which we buried to take the spoils. Platofm has been how much better we defend under SC though, as we'd have been two down under the old regime(s). Sliver of hope remains.

And again, and out the relegation places, albeit mostly because Colchester can't get a game on. Classic away performance at VP made easier by very early goal.
