League One Thread 2024/25

Wonder if Wrexham will stay at the top? They'd be the first football league team ever to achieve 3 consecutive promotions.

A few non league sides have done 4 consecutive and league sides have done 3 in 4 or 4 in 5 but never 3 in a row.

Should hopefully be a good game against Blues next Monday - Wrexham on a roll, whereas we haven't quite clicked yet.

Yep. As that’s the first league game our loanee keeper from Boro has actually made a save (he’s cost us 3 games with errors), we were due a clanger going in our favour.

What are we saying before our predictions can look sensible? Birmingham champions Wrexham runners up?

Wrexham looked quite limited to me on Monday tbh - think they will finish mid-table. Blues to go up, probably with Huddersfield. Haven't seen Stockport play yet though.

Back to square one at Reading.

There had been a lot of optimism that a sale was happening, but not now. Apparently another buyer is showing interest.

The fear of course is that there will be more failures to pay tax/staff and the points deductions will start again, and eventually admin/liquidation, which is what the owner has done to the previous two clubs he's owned. How the hell was Dai Yongge allowed to buy the club in the first place?

There's talk of more protests. Tennis balls or a pitch invasion, to stop the next home game.

The manager is pretty clear that the players/staff don't want that, and whilst I support the idea of fans protesting about the state of affairs at Reading, I'm inclined to think that anything that could result in a points deduction or any other sanction against the club isn't what is needed at this point in time.

Last season I nearly went to a game, just to see Reading one last time, but the club kept going. It's a shame to be back in the same place.

Hope Reading can get out of the mess they're in after the shocking development of our former owner pulling out of the takeover, how was it not done and dusted? 😮

Meanwhile in the League/Milk/Littlewoods/Rumbelows/Coca-Cola/Worthington/Carling/Capital One/EFL/Carabao Cup; can't be too displeased at only going down 2-1 to Villa. They struggled, only opening the scoring in the 55th minute with Richard Kone getting a consolation goal in injury time.

Modern football is shit. Not because of the play acting and VAR, but because of the morons buying clubs.

Upto 6th after an excellent come from behind away win at Bristol R.

Birmingham and Wrexham be looking over their shoulders for the next 39 games :D

Orient gubbed 3-0 at Wycombe. We lack confidence and struggle to create scoring chances at the moment. This could be a grim ol’ season for The O’s…

Haven't posted for a while as I'm not one to get big headed when things are going well, things can turn the other way just as quickly.

Can't believe we're top but of course Coventry are very interested in Bloomfield so we could be without our manager soon 😞

Reading holding up pretty well. Reckon we can take the inevitable 10 points deduction and still avoid relegation......

The sale of the club saga rumbles on. Doesn't look like the issue of the ground being mortgaged to a chinese bank can be solved.

Many thanks to the ref at St. Andrews for playing all that injury time so Northampton could equalise in the 96th minute :)

Northampton were the most negative, ten men behind the ball anti-football team I've seen in many a year at St Andrews (including us!) We're going to get this almost every home game so we have to find a way to break teams down. I've noticed teams are making their own pitches rougher to scupper our passing ability when they play us as well! We'll be ok though and I reckon we'll win the League and clear 100 points (famous last words lol)
