West Ham 2022-23: The Road to Prague

If that was the other day round you know LiVARpool get the penalty all day long!
Exactly! Fucking mental. He moves his arm towards the ball, it hits it twice, stops it dead. It would have run to Ings otherwise and somehow that's not a fucking penalty? Jesus fucking christ.

It hardly needs saying but, as always, fuck Liverpool.

Last season for comparison:
Arsenal (h) L 1-2
Liverpool (h) W 3-2
Man Utd (h) L 1-2
Leeds (h) L 2-3
Man City (a) L 1-2
Brentford (a) L 0-2
Leicester (a) D 2-2
Palace (a) W 3-2

Bournemouth & Fulham (a) n/a but we beat Watford, Norwich and drew with Burnley

That would give us 11-13 points which would be enough but
(1) is totally dependant on Bournemouth and Fulham being worse than us which is TBD, and
(2) ignores the fact that we are much shittier than last season, ie picking up points at 60% of last seasons rate (we had 45pts this time last season).
So it turns out Bournemouth and Fulham were worse than us so thats par. But only 1pt instead of 3pts from Arsenal and Liverpool.
I think we'll be ok but its still in the balance.

It's even worse on the replay. Cheating little fucker.

That one is just plain cheating. An awful decision. Guy expected contact, didn't get it, but was already falling over. Unbelievable. Just unbelievable.

Can see Frank in there next season
You've already done that one.

We're the last team he would come to. And we don't want him. This is his last position and he only got it cos he used to score goals for you. Crazy really that people running multi million pound businesses make decisions like that, but here we are.

Who would you have in as the next coach/manager?

2 penalty decisions in a week go to VAR, and they get both wrong!
With the Liverpool one I can understand that maybe just the rule is stupid or something. Like I look at it and think it's absolutely fucking crazy that it isn't a penalty but understand that maybe there's some weird rule where it can't be a penalty if your manager is Klopp or you're cheeky chappies. But this one is just cheating. The angle from the goal shows that there's no grabbing, no pulling. Why VAR don't change it I do not know.

Big Sam for Leeds! That'll add a bit of a spice to that game. I bet he'll take the job just for the chance to relegate us.

Haha, no way! I thought people were taking the piss. What a game that's going to be!

I loved big Sam. Proper manager.

Rice, Soucek and Aguerd all sick, got like five people on the bench and two of them are goalkeepers. This is going to be a laugh.

Oh well another decision that will even itself out. That's three in four games so hope whoever evens these out is aware.

Like how the fuck can I, an absolute imbecile, see this and the team of professional referees cannot? All the commentators on BTSport including Peter "I agree with the decision" Walton are saying it's wrong, so what the fuck is going on?

I can’t stand the BT commentators tbh . For CL games I always without fail either turn over to Peacock in the US or to Sports Eleven Portugal .

That was great. Best performance of the season. Rice, Paqueta, Kehrer, Antonio, Aguerd were all absolutely immense. Dominated, deserved to win - despite the best efforts of the referee. But that was pretty much perfect.

And always nice to beat one of the money clubs. Their fans can start their short journey home.

Justification for non penalty is that the ball would've hit his body anyway. Is that the law? It looked like he moved pretty deliberately to deflect it with his arm. Handball law is such a mess now. Were there 2 disallowed goals too?

Anyway, we won, we're safe, and it looks like there is some life in the team yet. Thursday night to look forward to...European semi final!! I've got a ticket for home leg and pub booked for the 2nd. I wouldlike a little trip to Prague so please don't fuck it up lads.

I missed getting a ticket. Been to every game otherwise, apart from one I was away for. Bit annoying.

All these Europa Conference League glory boys coming out of the woodwork. Tch.
