West Ham 2022-23: The Road to Prague

Fuck knows what is wrong with us.

We're the only team that could be relegated with the mainstay of the Brazilian midfield playing for us.

I thought Moyes said he was going to be trying to build a new team building on the strengths of paq and scamacca? Its just olde worlde dross. Defenders are either injured or ancient and he doesn't know what to do with the fancy midfielders and forwards. Doom and gloom all round

So with Paqueta doing what he does for Brazil, we have Rice instead of Casemiro (ok) and then instead of Neymar we have....Soucek. Hmm. Not Fornals or Lanzini Dave?

“I would like to find a good balance with getting all three of them [Rice, Soucek, Paqueta] in the team if we can,” said Moyes. “I think we do need Tomas more in some games than others. But I still fancy [Soucek] out of the three of them, if you asked who is more likely to get more goals, I still fancy Soucek.

“At the moment he is not doing quite [that] just now but the other night (against Leeds) he looked closer to it, he played a bit higher up the pitch so we are really keen to get him back in goalscoring form. Goals have been a big issue for us. We see him scoring more goals than Rice or even Paqueta. We need some goals from midfield.”

Rice doesn't want to sit back and defend for us like he does for England. So Soucek has to share it, which means he doesn't get into the penalty area like he did a couple of years ago. By all means get him to do that again - goals cover up a lot of sins, but he's going to have to get Declan to buy into it.

Paqueta is showing signs of finally getting used to the league and is doing some good things. TBF to him he's been in and out with a couple of little injuries and then the World Cup, let's hope he gets a run now until the end of the season.

I agree that Fornals should be playing. Him, Rice, Emerson, Paqueta & Scamacca were just starting to play some nice little flicks with each other. I'd like to see that more often.

So far this week there have been rumours of Moyes being replaced by Benitez, and we've just signed 30 year old sicknote Danny Ings for £15 million. Welcome back West Ham.

It’s why we love them. I’d hate to be a Man City fan where everything is delivered on a silver platter!

You can have your titles and your Champion's Leagues. You can pay 80 million for a centre back and moan that other clubs spend too much money. You can have the league, the officials and the media in your pockets. But you will never have the love that we had for Craig Ballon Dawson.

God speed you beautiful man.

Are things turning? Great point against the lapdogs of the oil dictatorship, Rice and Aguerd were absolutely outstanding. I love a performance like that, Paqueta looks like he's getting up to speed as well.

Lovely. Let's see what happens against Everything That's Wrong With Modern Football. Will the Low Rent Galacticos live up to their price tags? Or will The Tartan Diego Simeone's Massive Bastards bloody another nose?

It was difficult to resist the Combined Might of Late Stage Capitalism but we did well. Despite spending more than the defence budget of Cuba in one transfer window the underachieving Blues once again failed to capitalise on the obscene amounts of wealth that they have amassed, reducing the overall quality of life for everybody on the planet so that they can sign a bloke with ridiculous neck tattoos.

The downsides were the injuries to Paqueta and Aguerd but we signed them in the Summer so of course they will be out for months. Standard.

The atmosphere at West Ham nowadays sounds atrocious. Practically silent most of the game. Such a shame remembering Upton Park.
Maybe we should chant "west ham, West ham, west ham". Heard that works pretty well.

Actually was it against you earlier this season that VAR ruled out a cast iron penalty when our keeper brought someone down ?
Yeah. I didn't want to mention it.

Bowen. The ref said he fouled the keeper cos his trailing leg brushed him as he jumped over him. Cornet scored.

Another meek surrender to The Big 6. Not feeling massively confident even for the Forest game next week
