US election 2020 thread

I am seriously at a loss why you find it offensive.
I shall remove it because it causes you distress.

eta: feel better now?

It wasn't 'offensive' but politically shit, and I have no idea what the point of posting it without comment was. Did you agree with it, were you posting it as it was shit, to illustrate a particular point, or something else?

not to mention the whales

Derek:
The whales were all Nazis! They were at the Nuremberg rallies, mate. They were all whales.

Clive:
What, they were tried at the Nuremberg trial?

Derek:
No, they were whales at the rallies. Hitler, Hitler was talking to whales.
What have the whales got to do with it? :(

I would have never guessed this would happen.

Videos and photos posted on social media show a long line of vehicles flying Trump flags trailing the Biden-Harris bus as it traveled from San Antonio to Austin on I-35. In some images, the bus appears to be boxed in by the vehicles.

Some members of the Texas Democrats’ campaign say that a Biden-Harris staffer’s car was hit during the incident.

As a result of the incident, campaign events in Austin and Pflugerville were canceled.

Katie Naranjo, chair of the Travis County Democratic Party, tweeted that Trump supporters followed the bus in an attempt to intimidate Biden voters.

“They ran into a person’s car, yelling curse words and threats. Don’t let bullies win, vote,” she added.

Thanks, was going to look for that thread but couldn't find it again. Pretty grim stuff alongside the tear gas incident in NC. My hope (and, on balance, belief) is that this stuff is the last desperate kicks of a movement that's going to be buried under a landslide come Wednesday morning

Anyway, everyone's bringing their last polls out, here's some of CNN's

I mean, never mind PA dragging on for days/weeks, if Biden wins NC by six points then we'll know on the night that it's over. Because if that happens then GA & FL will have followed along as well

FL may not go blue but PA, NC and GA will.
Florida's gonna be fine I think. Broward County is turning out in numbers which is usually a good sign and I think enough seniors are going to switch sides that it may not even be close by Florida standards.
But obvs we all get nervous because Florida

Re: GA, biggest increases in turnout appear to be in and around the Atlanta metro. Which is obviously a good sign

Aaaaaaand, for balance:

Bit of a shocker that one, not necessarily because the state is especially important (if it goes Blue then the game's long been up for DT) but because the same poll a month ago had them tied and if Biden's gone backwards here then there could be trouble in Wisconsin for example. It's a well regarded pollster but even well regarded pollsters can put out badly wrong polls and I haven't seen any other polls this bad for Biden aside from the obviously partisan trash like Trafalgar or Rasmussen.

Fingers crossed it's an outlier or if not it's just confined to Iowa

Edit: although people are now bashing it for not weighting by education which was kind of a crucial part of why the polls missed last time - the college degree/non-college degree split amongst whites. And anyway if it was 47-47 last time and 48-41 this time, where did those other 5% go who apparently had made their minds up last month but now haven't? And so on... honestly polls are fun as long as you like numbers and understand why they may or may not be right or wrong!

Last bit of stirring the shit up before the elections, getting the no-so-coded message across to the armed muscle types, perhaps.

Trump warned of “bedlam in our country” if no clear winner emerges quickly in the November 3 election, saying, without evidence, that it could take weeks to sort out a result and that “very bad things” could happen in the interim.

Trump: It’ll take weeks to count votes, ‘very bad things’ could happen

Sadly, I don't think this is the last bit of shit before the election.
