US election 2020 thread

Personally, I do have ill will to people who act as cheerleaders for authoritarian rapist scum like Trump. I'm prepared to believe that in 2016 some of them were just deeply ignorant and utterly clueless about who Trump is and what he stands for. Not anymore.

They are fallible humans and act as fallible humans will do. Many of them have been indoctrinated with some pretty bizarre ideas since birth such as "Prosperity Theology" and racist ideas. You aren't going to fix that in four years.

I just don't think there is any need to be gratuitously nasty. That just makes us a bit more like the people we profess to loathe.

Are there any reliable figures about the ongoing turnout at these events ?
Watching bits of footage, I wonder whether it's a particular subset who want to doughnut behind him ...

If Biden rallies were hit with searing heat and freezing cold in the same week a hurricane slammed into some solidly Democratic states, I think some Republicans would conclude that God was trying to send a message.

If the Trumpist filth fall into a giant pit next we'll have the holy trinity of earth, wind and fire lol.

I think a Biden rally would either not be happening in such circumstances, or would be a bit better prepared to deal with unforseen eventualities. Not because the Democratic party has a kinder heart or anything like that (they don't!), but simply as a calculated move.

</wearing my 'festival weather' hat ;) :p >

I've just been checking forecasts for several (very variedly located) cities across the US on BBC Weather -- do the same, Urbans!

It's close enough to the opening day of the famous Trumpoutbury Festival!! for forecasts to be quite reliable :)

Few hurricanes and downpours predicted, plenty of dry and sunshiney weather too (and not just in Miami, Fl., or Phoenix, Az.! ;) ).

Also, Biden seem to have big poll leads amongst older voters, a fair few of whom will still be doing the traditional/old fashioned 'vote on the day' thing :cool:

Weather : relevant for elections as well as festivals!! :D

The US election system is inconsiderate :mad: ;) to those over here who need to go to work early on Wednesday!! :mad: :p

But I'm considering going to bed pretty early on Tuesday, and getting up no later than 4 am (GMT) or something.

Would that be sensible for getting useful news by then?

<makes sure of coffee stocks! :p >
