US election 2020 thread

Cant remember if i already posted this before but they have raised over 3 million dollars now, more every time the twat sends a tweet, it's kind of brilliant.

That is excellent - not least because it will tickle people's funny bone. Amidst stiff competition, Trump's OTT twitter rants are probably the most ridiculous thing about him.

It reeks more than a little of desperation for a candidate to make his opponent's son the main focus of his attacks 11 days before the election, especially when his "evidence" is a copy of a hard drive of a laptop that a blind computer store owner claims was abandoned in his store before he gave it to Rudy Giuliani - and when his own sons are Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr.
It's totally desperate. Across America, I imagine people will be rolling their eyes and going 'oh jesus, pull the other one' or 'is that really it?'.
In the middle of a raging pandemic, it gives the impression of someone who simply can't, or won't, engage with the issues.

Was just thinking today that although Biden is not the most amazing thing ever, and though he may not be able to be better than anyone else at 'fighting' COVID (tho without doubt better than Trump) , one thing he should be capable of is creating a sane, humane recovery plan from the effects of COVID. I can't imagine Trump doing anything but a hodgepodge that would mostly throw money at his rich industries.

Dunno but have some polls (which are terrible for the GOP)

All those seats are GOP held and frankly if three of them are swinging so hard to Blue like that I can't see IA going for Trump either

If those polls translate across (i.e. upballot) it won't just hurt Trump; Joni Ernst is toast too.
Which in turn means, if they win senate seats in Colorado (which they almost certainly will, Hickenlooper is currently serving Gardner his arse on a plate), Maine and NC (where they have truly excellent chances, thanks in no small measure to the incumbents' gutless ernabling of all that Trump has done), then the Senate is tied even if they lose in Alabama. Plus, they have a terrific chance of the open seat in Georgia.
Mind, if they than managed to unseat those ghouls Purdue, Cormun and Linbdsey effing Graham, I'd be practically floating up to the ceiling - but I don't want to get those hopes up.

Don't forget McSally is toast in AZ also.
Recent polls have shown Dems winning both GA seats in run offs as well

shit, forgot about McSally! OK, if that Iowa poll holds good, the dems have the Senate by at least 49-51 - and possibly 57-43, if all those other seats I mentioned fall their way, plus Kansas and Montana (improbable, but still a distinct possibility).

When will people figure out that rules and contracts mean nothing to Trump

CBS News on Thursday called out the White House for violating an agreement it had with the network and posting President Trump's full "60 Minutes" interview online ahead of its Sunday air date.

"The White House's unprecedented decision to disregard their agreement with CBS News and release their footage will not deter '60 Minutes' from providing its full, fair and contextual reporting which presidents have participated in for decades," CBS News said in a statement.

Trump posted the 38-minute interview on Facebook after spending days threatening to do so and lashing out at correspondent Lesley Stahl, who conducted the interview at the White House Tuesday.
CBS News has said the White House recorded the interview alongside the network, but agreed only to use the footage for archival purposes. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the agreement.

I just had a happy thought: When trump loses, Melania will divorce him and make a name for herself in her own right telling everyone what a loser he is. She'll grow into a sort of national treasure, a darling of the talk shows for years (she will have to earn a living with it), and it will sink the family.

Fox News are reporting the Guiliani has passed the following on to them. It's an angry sweary WhatsApp exchange between Hunter Biden and business associate. It might be a game changer.

But the photograph is of an old weathered looking Blackberry. Which appears to have an iOS WhatsApp screenshot in place of it's screen. Of a Russian iPhone, connected to a Russian Network. With 'cite' spelt as 'sight' and 'plane' as 'plain'.

"Secret Service investigators and federal prosecutors say James Dale Reed left a handwritten letter on the doorstep of a Frederick residence, threatening to “severely beat” Biden and rape Harris “by my rifle barrel” before executing both candidates on national television.

The letter, delivered Oct. 4 about 4:30 a.m., also warned supporters of the Biden-Harris campaign that they would be targeted, according to a federal criminal complaint. “We have a list of homes and addresses by your election signs,” read a letter included in the complaint. “We are the ones with those scary guns." "

and ...

"Alexander Hillel Treisman, originally from Seattle, was indicted by a federal grand jury in September on a child pornography charge after authorities stumbled upon his abandoned van at a Third Bank in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Inside, officers with the Kannapolis Police Department found a trove of weapons, including an AR-15 style rifle behind the driver’s seat, a canister of Tannerite, an explosive material, and more than $500,000"

The BBC's feed of the debate has got the audio so far out of sync with the video that it looks like it's being badly dubbed and i kind of like it.

Jesus H. What a choice.

Biden can barely string a sentence together. Unfortunately Trump can. Mental sentences yes. But that was toe curling. I'm a terrible public speaker but I'm not trying to be POTUS.

Didn't watch it but papers seem to be saying Biden was fine, didn't go well for Trump. There must be a compilation of the times Trump was muted - please post it here anyone when you see it :)

I watched this. They've definitely set him up and you can see the girl take some recording equipment away from him so the hand down the pants thing looks like a stitch-up and RG is telling the truth about that. However, he does touch her quite a few times, tap her on the arse, constantly call her "my dear", and go into the bedroom for a drink with her.

It's on Amazon Prime now and the Giuliani bit is from 1:17 to 1:22 if you don't want to sit through an hour and a half of typical SBC cringe tv.

I wouldn't have watched it but had a rough night sleeping for other reasons so happened to be up. I really, honestly, don't see how anyone could claim Biden won that. I'm the furthest person you could imagine from being a Trump supporter. But Biden was absolutely terrible. I assume they'll lift certain soundbites out so unless you watch the whole thing maybe you won't see it. He stumbles over words, mispronounces words, gets numbers wrong, corrects himself etc etc. He'll win (I hope) but what a crying shame they couldn't have found a better candidate.
