I read that to mean that he can have one more go.

That's far from the scariest scenario I can think of. The next time the Republicans are going to get someone like Trump but who actually knows what they are doing and who shows a degree of competence in fucking everything up. Just because Trump may be on the way out, that country is far from fixed. Politically it will only get worse.

tbh when you look at the bunch of crazies Trump beat for the nomination in 2016, it's not like he's been that much worse than many of them would have been.

There were a few crazies in the field, including Rick Santorum and the Zodiac Killer, but I'm not sure if a John Kasich or Jeb Bush presidency would have been all that different from a Clinton or Biden one.
