US election 2020 thread

In 2016 I was reading an article about the increasing number of people who live in 'landslide counties' in America ie regularly scoring 70,-80% for one or the other party. On one hand it means you may not meet many people with an opposing view, on the other hand if you are a democrat in rural Kentucky or a republican in parts of Vermont it means there is basically nobody who can represent you to oppose local politicians. I was looking at some of results today and that kinda came into my head

Just like living in Romford.

I wonder how many botched elections it's going to take before both parties acknowledge that a small group of wealthy slaveowners 225 years ago may not in fact have created the most perfect system of government ever devised.
other slaveowners created rather more long-lasting systems of government, eg the roman republic

i am confident that groups of wealthy slaveowners shouldn't really be let anywhere near the design of a system of government

I met a lass once who sadly boasted to us that she was the only Democrat in Oklahoma. Not a massive exaggeration tbh

Interesting article on the betting odds in this election. I wasn’t aware that it’s illegal to bet on elections in the USA and the money is pretty much U.K. and European based

Arizona will release two batches of results at 9pm & 1230am EST (so 2am & 530am here). 600,000 to count

It was clear hours ago that Biden had taken Wisconsin, it's been about an hour since the Trump side said they would demand a re-count.
