US election 2020 thread

For anybody who hasn't noticed, I only just did, if you scroll down the guardian page you get the numerical gap and number of votes left to count for the key states.

Sorry if this has been discussed on the thread before, but is it true (as the BBC are pushing) that some hispanic/latino folks are more likely to vote for Trump because they fled from a so-called "socialist" regime and therefore don't want to vote for anything like that (this is just what commentators on the BBC keep saying, I have no illusions that either the Democrats or any locations from which folks may have come are remotely socialist - it seems ridiculous and almost like try to put the blame on the left when one right winger gets more votes than another right winger)
Miami Cubans are always seen in this category.

Miami Cubans are always seen in this category.

Yeah I understand, but I was more worried about the emphasis the BBC coverage was placing on it - like if it all goes tits up, we know who to blame - seems inappropriate.

Biden and Trump now tied in Michigan, with remaining votes likely to break to Biden.

Trump's going to fucking lose.
Where are you getting that? Guardian still has it at 12k trump. Anyway, I think the next thing will be Michigan recount rules.

If Covid hadn't happened, Trump would have won a crushing victory by now. Biden wouldn't have stood a chance. America is just a hellhole.
I'm not so sure about that tbh. I thought covid would be a big factor, but it doesn't really appear to have been. Florida has broken for Trump quite comfortably in the end (by Florida standards - it's always close), and it's been ravaged by covid in the last few months.

For what it's worth about an hour ago I put £50 on Trump to win (as a hedge against my profound disappointment that would cause). I got (decimal) odds of 3.2.

However, that's now looking like a rubbish bet as the odds are 4.6.

Looks like the Dems won't get control of the Senate. If Biden wins, does this mean 4 years of stalemate while he struggles to undo the damage done by Trump?
