The Urban 6 Nations 2018 Thread

Quite interesting to see the levels of Irish pessimism in the comments given your home advantage, relative position in the international rankings and injury situation vs ours. What are your thoughts on the outcome?

Well given that out we haven't beaten you in the 6N since 2014, I would say that there is a legitimate reason to be pessimistic about Saturday for us. I think also that we struggled against 10 and 14 placed teams in the world and in both games leaked tries means that we have reason to worry. Added to that depressing scenario the brilliance of Welsh play this 6N. It's recipe for singing sad mournful songs on Saturday night's lock ins up and down the country.

I too am worried, given that Tadgh Furlong is been given until Thursday morning to prove his fitness. That a game made for JvdF, is going to see either Jordi Murphy or Leavy at 7, both of whom will miss tackles. That Chris Farrell will partner Bundee Aki in the centre.

Tbh I can't call it, its a season defining game for us. You've had a loss, you've got nothing to lose (as it were) whereas we've struggled thus far. But given that we are slow starters, pulled it out of the bag against France and gave Carbery some game time in that last game that strikes me as a plus, as is the fact that both Bigger and Liam Williams can't be 100% fit. So heart overruling the brain I'd say Ireland by 3.

Rumours that Henderson will join Furlong and Henshaw on the injured list and that you'll be starting with Toner, Porter and Farrell.

I think I may have a semi.

Wales are a bonkers -10 on the handicap. If the cover this I will be in a different but similar ditch to bendeus on Saturday night. I think it’s the bet of the year

Six Nations 2018: Eddie Jones wary of 'world-class' Finn Russell

Translationometer: Jones adopts a more conciliatory tone after England were outclassed and outplayed for great swathes of that match-in case this time the near loss leads to an actual loss.

Scotland are my B Team (being of scottish heritage)....so I hope England produce the shock of the tournament after a hopeful welsh win...which may see England finish mid table assuming they lose to Ireland last day....who'd have ever thought that wouldve been a possible outcome eh.

Liam gave a good account of himself in his last club match for the sarries. I wouldnt worry about his match fitness. Id be more worried about his abilities under the high ball if I was irish.

I think Wales will sneak this. By at least 5

Finn Russell is only world class when on the front foot. He's fucking bobbins under pressure. More mindgames from the shiny little turd

'Shiny little turd' Love it. I could easily visualise that thundercunt swigging strong cider on a park bench shouting expletives at the general public. That smirk. That face....jeez...it would look much better with a hammer buried in it.

He's doing fuck all for my irrational hatred of the RFU you know.

E2A: just reread it myself. He really is a cunt's cunt, isn't he?

It's like his mother walked into a cunt shop and for the biggest cunt they had in stock. And thus... Eddie Jones was born

While I understand the utterly toxic impact the T14 has on French international rugby I still can't quite grasp how a country with France's pedigree and player base can be quite as shit as they are

My earliest spotting memories are travelling up hill and down dale with my old man to watch what was in the main diabolical rugby. As many as 3 matches a weekend of shit. I’m not sure why those memories popped into my head watching this game tonight.

Assuming that you didn't catch Ireland Wales U20? I love age grade rugby - so much space and optional tackling. It's like a 70s redux.

(Except for the mini Orcs - they're humungous and therefore aren't quite as entertaining)

E2A: far, far better entertainment than the big boys on display tonight
