The Urban 6 Nations 2018 Thread

Also yeah Eddie Jones is a dick, a man who picked Hartley as captain can fuck righht off if he starts talking about saving the dignity of the game.

The comments about Patch are also well out of order. His talent speaks for itself and I hope he has a blinder tomorrow.

This. I know Wales have huge gaps in some areas in the squad but we've got some quality throughout the side. This side may not be capable of beating New Zealand, nor England tomorrow, but there's no reason why a Welsh team that hasn't been decimated by injury, with a squad picked on form, that's encouraged to play what's in front of them, and a coach who isn't on a sabbatical with the Lions, can't beat any other of the elite teams.

I'm sick of hearing the same old excuses every autumn, we have to have more belief and get past this inferiority complex.

Sorry, and FTFY

Dim problem! And yes, more heads up rugby please. I know last weekend was only one game but it's well nice watching a less Gatland style Welsh team, injury enforced or not.

That's the funny thing, I think. If we hadn't had the injuries we'd still be lining up with a massive bowl of porridge in midfield and our backline moves would still stink to high heaven. If everyone was fit I'd probably go for:

Evans Owens Lee
AWJ Seb
Warburton Faletau Tips

Liam, North, Davies, Parkes, Patchell, Webb, 1/2p

Bench: Shingler, Bradley, Wynn Jones, Francis, Elias, G Davies, Anscombe

...but then I'd be agonising about the injustice of dropping Shingler out of the XV and Scott W out of the squad, not to mention Adams

Like the look of that.

I'd be surprised if Gats reverts back to plan A now, I do genuinely think his head has been turned by the success of Llanelli and last weekend. Turkball just suits our squad so much better than Gatlandball.

No it's definitely an attitude problem. That Oz side that turned up in Autumn were very ordinary and got easily dispatched by other NH sides. SA are in a total mess at the moment. These sides are very beatable and Wales should be beating them, you're treading very close to being the personification of the problem. You don't believe you can win against SH sides.

Last year Wales were a shit kick away from beating England, the same England side that went down to Oz and did them 3-0 in their own back yard. Tell me again why you aren't good enough?

Explain to me how this fits into with 'obsessing with the unimportant' Im genuinely confused.

We were 8 minutes from the beating the ABs in the AI about 3 years ago-so where did our 'obsession with unimportant' derail us then?

Oh, I agree (I'm now suffering paroxysms of guilt because I didn't include Biggar in my XXIII (Dan who?))

Question is - was it that Gatland had his head turned by Turk mugnificence or was he forced to pick Turks because the cupboard was bare?

Look back to the Priestland experiment pre WC before last. He was selected as third choice (a la Patchell) because neither Wellies nor 'Ooky were available through injury. He played flat, got our backline moving and presto, we had a viable and very dangerous attack. That was luck, not judgement. He had the option gift wrapped for him and, of course, took it with both hands.

It feels the same for me here. I suspect that without the Biggar injury we'd be looking at a midfield of Davies, Biggar, Williams, Williams - basically a big bag of stodge from which no winger would ever see the ball emerge.

just going shopping for burgers and beers in readiness for tonight's game . going to be a fascinating match hope it lives up to the billing. So often games don't, I have England to win but by a fine margin which will equate to home advantage. looking forwardsto seeing with how the Welsh cope with Mr Simmons.

Any rash predictions? Some kind of informal sweepstake?

I think both sides will score in the 20s and I do hope Wales gets a few more, so I'm saying Wales 25 England 21. Or the other way round!

Wales are -12 (-13 in some places on the handicap). I can’t see them beaten by more than that. Had a few quid on them after making money last week on Wales.

At the risk of ridicule does anybody agree England are a much better team with Haskell in it?
