Liked that stat: only 3 out of the entire England squad hadn't gone to a private school whereas all but 3 of the Welsh squad went to normal state schools.

Have you looked at Kyle Sinckler’s story? There was no rugby at his school, so he started a team himself, did all the work and got ridiculed a bit by the posher schools because their jerseys didn’t fit properly and most of them weren’t very good.
Synckler got spotted by coaches and got himself a full scholarship.

Gatland calls him a hothead. I think being a hothead got him to where he is.

I dont dispute that at all. What I do dispute is the inference that because they went to fee paying schools they must be posh. Its an outdated and frankly incorrect notion. These are people who were picked up at grassroots level as being bloody good at a sport and offered scholarships to nurture that. Lucky yes, posh no.

Privileged, then. And of course quite a few did go to proper posh schools too.

They’ve mostly been playing rugby from a very young age though, no? Maybe 30% are players like Itoje and Sinckler who got scholarships?
Not basing that on any real stats, could be completely wrong.
